Pain is an unpleasant sensation we feel sometime to serve a protective purpose to an insult. Most of us, the pain is appropriate to the magnitude of the stimulus. However, there are two over pathological situations that can affect this Insult/Pain relationship. If the pain felt is less than the insult, this is called hypoesthesia. If the pain felt is more than the insult, this is called hyperesthesia.
