This is the most powerful and eloquent victim impact statement I have ever read. It is worth reading. It is also a master class on bad legal representation by a supposedly powerful defence lawyer. Sometimes the only viable legal option, not to mention the decent thing to do, is pleading guilty. Accepting responsibility and asking for mercy is preferable to fighting a hopeless case and antagonizing a victim. The best defence lawyers know this.
