If you’ve been raised within codependent dynamics, boundaries will make you cringe. They made (still sometimes) make me cringe. When you’ve been conditioned to ...please people, to be nice + to not cause issues, boundaries might feel like you’re being rude or mean. The truth is, boundaries are kind. They allow us to be clear on what we will + will not accept. They allow us to tell another person our our limits. They allow us to create vulnerable, open relationships. Many of us (myself included) weren’t raised in homes with direct, objective communication was taught. So I wrote these scripts to help. Of course, they’re just a foundation.
