Georgian Bay Preservation Alliance 02.07.2021

The Georgian Bay Preservation Alliance has been hard at work to ensure that the practice of municipal sewage dumping in our beautiful province is publicly reported, because we believe that you have a right to know what goes into your water. We are pleased to report that we have been making impactful progress. To date we have helped the municipalities of Midland and Hamilton institute public reporting mechanisms to inform the public of any and all bypass, sewage and overflow ...dumping incidents in real time. This has made local residents more aware than ever, of when the right time is to swim, fish, or paddle in our beautiful waterways. Through these efforts, we have had the opportunity to work closely with the Government of Ontario to advocate for a provincial wide regulation that would ensure all Ontarians the same access to real time reporting of all dumping incidents. Our work with Ontario is not yet done, but we are very pleased by our discussions thus far as well as the Government's interest in ensuring all citizens are made aware of what is going into their water in instances of adverse weather and overflow. Only thanks to your support and advocacy has this initial progress been possible. However, we still need your help! Keep the pressure up - send your friends and family to the link below and sign our petition and get in touch with your local Member of Provincial Parliament and ask them to make this issue a priority. Together we can ensure mandatory reporting across Ontario in realtime and make our beautiful waterways safer for all. We look forward to update you again soon and wish you a wonderful Canada Day Long Weekend. - The GBPA Team Get involved! Help us end this practice!
