Congratulations to Ian Scates of Central Smith Creamery, the 2020 Peterborough Chamber of Commerce - Peterborough Business Excellence Awards Business Citizen of the Year!!! In addition to his many accomplishments as an entrepreneur and contributions to worthy causes, Ian is a former Chair and current Governor Emeritus of the PRHC Foundation Board of Directors. We were so proud to hear of Ian's win (and to be mentioned in his nomination video). Together with his wife Jennifer Scates, and his entire family, Ian and Central Smith Creamery continue to act as passionate ambassadors for our mission, supporting world-class care at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for patients from across our region. Yesterday, Foundation staff made a trip to The Beer Store - but not for the usual reason . This time we were there to gratefully accept the proceeds of The Beer Store's local community fundraiser in support of Peterborough Regional Health Centre and and were we blown away! Over the past 6 months, customers at 6 locations in Peterborough, Lakefield and Bridgenorth donated the proceeds of their empties, raising an INCREDIBLE $56,296.68!!! What a generous (and clearly beer-loving) community we live in . The funds will be used to support front line healthcare professionals in their delivery of world-class patient care at our hospital. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who donated and cheers!

The PRHC Foundation team was deeply saddened to learn about the recent passing of Francoise (Fran) Anderson, one of our Cardiac Cath Lab Ambassadors. Fran was a "little lady with a big heart" who was so grateful for the lifesaving care she received in the Cath Lab, that she offered to lend her story and her name to our fundraising efforts. While none of us know how long our lives will be, Fran’s family has reached out to tell us how grateful she was to have six more months wi...th her loved ones. So grateful in fact, that she wanted her campaign to support this vital cause to continue after her death. They tell us she was so enthusiastic about the care she received in the Cath Lab at Peterborough Regional Health Centre last spring, that she called this project the last gift she would give her family and community. So, here, for the last time, we present Fran's story. We’re honoured by and so grateful for her and her family’s passion and generosity thank you. And thank you to everyone who has given in response to Fran’s appeal and in her memory. UPDATE: At Fran's request and the request of her family, donations in her honour may be made at www.prhcfoundation.ca and directed to either the cath lab reinvestment, or to the Peterborough's Dragon Boat Festival 2020 cancer care priority.
