The PDI crew is busy hammering and crushing 6,500 tons of oversized rock on an island up in cottage country. To reduce the carbon footprint and speed up production, we are processing the rock on-site and screening the clear stone (for footings and foundation backfill). This eliminates the need to haul stone back and forth across the lake, saving time and money. #crushingandscreening#hammering #excavating #demolition #sustainablesolutions #thinkgreen

A unique project in Northern OntarioSome may think the demolition industry is simply about removing permanent structures, but in this case it’s a tugboat known as Norton-W31. This boat started out in Halifax (1943) during WW2, rescuing damaged vessels and towing them into Halifax Harbour for repairs. When the war ended, it was sold to the Marathon paper mill (1946) to pull large barges of timber into the port. It was then renamed "Peninsula" after the original name of the to...wn where it started. Since then, many pieces of large equipment have tried (and failed) to remove this 250T tugboat from the waters edge. This is when Priestly Demolition received a call. The residents of Marathon had hoped to preserve this important piece of history with fundraising efforts, but unfortunately the high levels of asbestos meant that Theodore (as the boat has been nicknamed), will need to be safely dis-assembled and laid to rest. Watch this 2-building demolition unfold on Charles St. in busy downtown Toronto, surrounded on all sides by buildings, roadways and sidewalks. There is nothing simple about this project, but careful planning ensures it is completed safely, on-time and on-budget. #demolition #highreachequipment #priestlydemolition

City projects are challenging for operators, as they have to constantly be watching for cars, bikes, pedestrians and the random unpredictable things that are happening around the perimeter of a job site. Not to mention, the often close proximity to surrounding buildings that they have to navigate. Great job PDI team. We appreciate the fantastic work that you do everyday. Photos: N.
