Primal Mind, Primal Games 24.02.2021

Old devices designed to ensure thought-control remind us that human psychology has long been prone to imposing draconian measures when there is seemingly justified impetus to help others or to help keep society safe from divergent views. Might there be some lessons to learn here in relation to how authorities and media behave in their handling of the Covid-19 crisis when trying to manage/characterize dissenting views?

On page 133 of our second Primal Mind Primal Games Book: Dawn Breaks Over Armageddon, which came out in 2016, we featured the photograph below in relation to a discussion of the Great Depression and the impact that it had on people. I was fortunate today to learn of the name of the mother in this photo, which only became known in recent years, Florence Owens Thompson. She died in 1983 at 80 years of age. (Thank you to Samuel Long for this.)

A worthy contemplation not only about the deepest meaning of emptiness, but also about the emptiness of the agency responsible for action which serves as the anchor of our personal "ego" fighting mindset identity. The healthy surrendered state that emerges out of the ego/fighting mindset becoming repeatedly frustrated with not seeing all of its goals met, is what Adyashanti is making reference to in this exchange. Here he is referring to that aspect of our beingness/knowingness consciousness essence that de-identifies with this limiting action-oriented aspect of our being that we so normally assume is all we are, wrapped up as it is in the hurriedness of material life. When one fully de-laminates this identity fixation, the ground of our consciousness stream is able to see who it really is. This is what is more commonly called awakening.

A most fascinating deep-dive 30 minute dialogue exchange between Canadian clinical psychology professor Jordan Peterson and English/Scottish psychiatrist Iain McGilchrist... + a part two addendum to go with it. You will be amazed. I know I was when I saw the first one, three years ago. Just saw it again a few days ago. And it was better the second time.

"The darker (meaning difficult) aspects of one’s conditioning are often triggered by experiences of deeper truth. This can be both painful and difficult at times, and it is important to have some trust or faith in something beyond the turmoil. This is when one really needs to establish an inner resource of surrender. By surrender I mean to open up to an intelligence and love that is beyond your capacity to create. This is the true meaning of faith. This may sound rather simplistic, but I can assure you that the results are not simplistic. ~ Adyashanti, The Way of Liberation + Thanks to Samuel Long for posting this insight into each of our own under-illumined shadows.
