I have family living in Australia and they sent me my Australian flag and i fly it half staff until noon then full staff. Today is ANZAC day. We remember the Fallen on Nov. 11, and while many in Australia hold 2 min of silence on Nov. 11, it is not a national holiday, instead they hold ANZAC (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) day on April 25 as their day of remembrance. Why you may ask, well April 25, 1915 was the beginning of the Gallipoli Campaign and the first time the Au...stralian/ New Zealand forces were in battle with other members of the Commonwealth including Canadians and Newfoundlanders. So like we remember The Battle of Beaumont Hamel on July 1st, they remember the Battle of Gallipoli on April 25th. According to my sister It involves a dawn service to acknowledge the soldiers who were up at dawn to prepare for battle ( Gallipoli beach), with wreaths, last post, 2 minute silence followed by a breakfast and then a March for veterans . Which explains the Orangeman preparing to lay wreaths in the dark, waiting for the dawn
