Excellent information!!!
Often called sadness when breastfeeding. Some women feel sadness, anxiety, restlessness or irritability. Sometimes the feeling is so intense that it is imposs...ible to ignore. D-MER is not a feeling or aversion to breastfeeding. It is a physical response to the actual letdown or flow of milk. It usually happens right before a let down and goes away within 1-2 minutes. D-MER is often caused by a fast drop in dopamine (a feel-good hormone). It is a reflex so it is something that can’t be willed away. What you can do if you think you have D-MER 1 Acknowledge that D-MER is a thing; you are not making this up and you cannot control it. 2 Contact an IBCLC - we can help you (find us at https://www.azbreastfedbabies.com). Your OB or pediatrician may not know what this is. 3 Go to D-MER.org for more information. 4 Rest, hydrate, reduce caffeine and stress. I know that this isn’t the easiest thing for new moms, especially if they have other children at home to take care of. Keep your water and snacks close and snack while breastfeeding. Many moms state that side lying nursing helps a lot. 5 There are medications that are compatible with breastfeeding that can help increase dopamine levels. 6 Connect with other moms with D-MER. There is a Facebook group that is run by D-MER.org that I recommend. Have you experienced D-MER?

Like many things, contraception isn't a one size fits all solution. If you notice a drop in your supply and you've been taking the progesterone pill, chat to your GP about other options. #knowledge #breastfeedingandmedication #lowsupply #contraception
So important for healthy development
