Prince Rupert Fire Rescue 15.02.2022

Busy morning for fire crews. At 11:34 am firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire on the 1900 block of 11th ave east. First arriving engine company upgraded the fire to a third alarm fire. On scene firefighters dealt with strong winds and a well involved fire on the main floor of the home. Fire crews aggressively attacked the fire with multiple fire hoses and the fire was quickly contained within 10 minutes. One small kitten was rescued by firefighters. Two occupants home at the time of the fire were able to evacuate the home. Both occupants were transported to hospital for evaluation. No other injuries were reported. Four fire apparatus and 13 firefighters were on scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

At 4:45 am firefighters were dispatched to smoke showing from a commercial occupancy on 2nd ave west. First due engine company quickly upgraded the call to a working fire. Fire crews quickly made entry and were able to suppress the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Our Municipal Emergency Operations Centre staff are in contact with Provincial Emergency officials and will provide updates as they are available. Do NOT go to the shore to observe the tsunami, and do not return to the shoreline until you receive an update through this channel. Where time and conditions permit, boat operators are advised to move your boat out to sea to a depth of at least 180 feet; if at sea avoid entering shallow water, harbors, marinas, bays, and inlets to avoid floating and submerged debris and strong currents. Prince Rupert Fire Rescue 12.01.2022

Second fire in two day for fire crews. At approximately 6:50 pm fire crews were dispatched to a apartment building structure fire. First arriving fire crews faced heavy smoke and flames in a suite on the first floor. In addition to fighting the fire, firefighters were in the process of rescuing an occupant on the second floor and conduct searches throughout the building. All occupants were accounted for. Fire crews once again were able to quickly contain the fire to two suite...s. One firefighter sustained a injury to the hand and was assessed at the hospital. Fire cause is under investigation.

*** Reminder to a residents to check their smoke alarms and practice home escape plans. *** Today at approximately 2:50 pm, fire crews were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on the west side of Rupert. First arriving fire crews entered the residence and quickly contained the fire to a single room. Fire crews did an amazing job quickly extinguishing the fire. However the rest of the main floor suit sustained smoke damage. The lone occupant home at the time o...f the fire escaped without injury. Thank you to BCAS,RCMP and BC Hydro for the help at the scene today. Condolences to those affected by today’s fire.

At 4:38 am this morning Prince Rupert Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported boat fire at Rushbrook Harbour. Upon arrival of first due firefighters, heavy flames and explosions were coming from the 45ft recreational boat. Fire crews aggressively attacked the fire using firefighting foam and several hose lines. Unfortunately the boat is a total loss. Due to the quick suppression efforts of firefighters, the dock system and neighbouring boats were not damaged. No injuries were reported. #cbcnews #globalnews

Congratulations to Alpha Fire Company Captain Bonneschranz, Acting Captain Sidoni and Firefighter Kormendy on the prestigious lifesaving award for 2020. On October 5 2020 Alpha Fire Company was dispatched to a structure fire on 2nd ave downtown. Their courageous actions that night at the fire resulted in successfully rescuing the lone missing occupant. Prince Rupert Fire Rescue 14.02.2021

At 7:45 am Prince Rupert Fire Rescue was dispatch to a report boat fire located at Fairview marina in Prince Rupert. Fire arriving fire crews found a large fire coming from a commercial crab vessel. Firefighters quickly set up portable fire pumps and made a aggressive fire attack to quickly contain the fire to the cabin area of the boat. No other boats were damaged and no injuries were reported. Cause of the fire is under investigation. We would like to thank everyone that helped out today.
