The Fifth Season is the first of a fantasy trilogy by N.K. Jemisin; a beautifully written epic fantasy of dealing with time, catastrophe, and upheaval. In 2016, it won the Hugo award for best speculative fiction novel. In 2017, the sequel, The Obelisk Gate, won the Hugo award for best novel again. 100 years ago today, G. V. Wilkinson of Ormes' drug stores continued to collect "books for the commencement of a free public library". Also, it was cold. (9 degrees Fahrenheit is around -12.8 Celsius. The -3 in Terrace would be called -19 today.
