It's that time of year again! Progress Physiotherapy is now collecting donations for both "Partners in Mission FoodBank" and "Tree of Hope". Non- perishable food donations can be dropped off at the clinic Monday - Friday. Please bring a donation to your next appointment, or feel free to stop by and say hello. In exchange for your generous donation we will provide you with warm "smieyes"! The toy drive does look a little different this year. The "Tree of Hope" is a lo...cal program run by the Children's Aid Society to help the kids they serve through the holiday season. Due to the current pandemic, there will be no physical toys accepted this year. However, monetary donations are in great need. This year more than ever! You can donate directly through the clinic, or please visit the link below to donate online. DONATION LINK: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx Help us help our community! We thank you so much for your generous support. Happy Holidays!

Exciting news! We will begin a gradual re-opening of our clinic starting next week (June 1). Visiting us will feel different as we are establishing social distancing procedures to meet Ontario Public Health and College of Physiotherapists of Ontario recommendations for safety. Our reception area will be fitted with plexiglass barriers. We will offer contactless payment. Physical distancing at the clinic will be easily maintained by having private treatment rooms. Patie...nts will be staggered to reduce overlap in the waiting room area. We have stepped up our cleaning procedures in all common areas and treatment spaces. Our team is excited to see you, we miss you! Having said that please be patient, we are not returning to normal just yet. Please phone or email to discuss your needs and we will be glad to help you. Starting Monday a receptionist will be available to answer your calls and emails more regularly. You can still book online at progressphysio.com. We look forward to helping you achieve your rehabilitation goals.

"Pink Batman, I know. But why not, it's Valentine's Day. Here are a few examples of why we should not base our pain management decisions or advice only on scans... (if taken). We should always consider the whole situation. Treat the person, not the scan." Great post, made by @kristianEkstrom on Twitter. See more

There is a common misbelief that running is bad for your knees and may increase your risk of osteoarthritis (OA). And if you already have OA you should stay awa...y from jogging all together. But is this true? In fact, research tells us that it is really important to be active and that running per se does not increase our risk of developing symptoms in our joints related to OA. Check out this #ABCHealthReport podcast that explores new research being conducted in Australia and the UK. #mythbusting #keepmoving #choosephysio See more

What is Patellofemoral pain syndrome? This is a broad term used to describe pain in the front of the knee and around the patella, or kneecap. It is sometimes ca...lled "runner's knee" or "jumper's knee" because it is common in people who participate in sportsparticularly females and young adultsbut patellofemoral pain syndrome can occur in non-athletes, as well. The pain and stiffness it causes can make it difficult to climb stairs, kneel down, and perform other everyday activities. https://www.orthoinfo.org//d/patellofemoral-pain-syndrome/ See more

- In Loving Memory of Snaig Zahn - (Aug 16, 1986- Oct 18, 2019) It is with heavy hearts that our Progress Physio family share the news of our dear friend and coworker Snaig Zahn’s passing. Snaige was not only an incredible physiotherapist, but a loving mother, wife, friend, and outdoors enthusiast. She was always a ray of sunshine around Progress Physiotherapy. ... Snaig has battled stage 4 colorectal cancer for the past 2 years. She was diagnosed only 4 months after her incredible daughter, Zoë, was born. During that time, she underwent multiple forms of treatment including surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and eventually immunotherapy. She continued to work as much as her body would allow during that time. Snaig loved being at the clinic and helping others. Despite her diagnosis of terminal cancer, she wanted to give her time to her patients. Her passion in life and work was not only admirable, but contagious. Snaig always made a strong impression on people, and she continues to have a huge impact on those who were blessed to have known her. We can all learn a lot from the beautiful way she lived her life: practice gratitude each day; do what you love; say yes more; don’t sweat the small stuff; spend time with those you love; face the unknown head on; eat your veggies; and for heaven’s sakes, GET OUTSIDE! Please see details shared below for Snaig’s celebration of life. If you would like to help contribute to Snaig’s Legacy you can support, share, or donate to the GO FUND ME link below, or contact Cherisse Denison at the clinic [email protected]. This fund will go towards helping support Snaig’s wish for Zoë to enjoy and learn from the outdoors. This is Snaig’s gift to Zoëbear! To read more about Snaige's journey, please follow her in Instagram @ snaige_an_unexpected_journey https://www.gofundme.com/f/snaiges-legacy-summer-camp-for-z
