Take a bite. Summer is when BC #tomatoes burst with flavour. We use this fruit-vegetable in many of our recipes: salsa, salads, ratatouille, veggie gratin, sauce, soups and pizza, to name few. Check our website for tasty tomato-filled recipes: www.projectchef.ca/recipes #tomatoesfordays #kidsinthekitchen #summercooking #cookingwithkids #bctomatoes #eatlocal

Ingredient list for #applesauce : apples. We leave the peel on for more nutrition and fibre. The bonus is that rosie-skinned apples makes for rosie-hued applesauce. Slice apples and place in pot. Add a little water to prevent sticking. Cook until tender, stirring frequently. Puree with handheld blender or leave chunky. Can or freeze. ... #preservingsummer #rosieglowapples #homegrown See more

We love traditional desserts. If you are going to indulge in a sweet treat, it should have some BC grown fruit in it and have ingredients you recognize. This plum cornmeal upside down cake is from a favourite recipe book, Rustic Fruit Desserts, by Cory Schreiber and Julie Richardson. A teatime cake with fruit from the garden. #traditionaldesserts #fruitdessert #bctreefruits

What to do with a tree full of plums? #plumjam #plumsauce #plumsyrup #plumconserve #plumsforfriends Favourite part of #canning is that satisfying little ping when the jars seal. #gambiergrown #growyourown #bcfruit

Look what Chef Bonnie pulled out of her garden today: a carrot with character. We love carrots in Project CHEF and the gnarlier the better. We’ve got many recipes on our website that feature this BC root veggie: veggies en papillote, Moroccan carrot salad, veggie chili, cole slaw and Italian pickled carrots, to name a few. We’ve also got some different activities that you may find carrot-er building. Dig in on our website. http://projectchef.ca/2020/04/20/crazy-about-carrots/

It’s BC Blueberry Day. Put a blue smile on your face by cooking and enjoying these healthy little gems. We use them in crostatas, pancakes, sauce, parfaits and crumbles. They’re mighty fine eaten right off the bush as well. #bcblueberries #eatlocal
