One of my favourite days of the year has arrived! @ella_valgesaar is a very elusive Canmore-based potter. She only makes during certain times of the year, using many locally-sourced ‘ingredients’ in her clays and glazes. She just dropped off a large collection this week, get them while they last - her pieces tend to sell out right away!

Late Summer Vibes

Artists work HARD. The most common questions we get in the shop are ‘Why is it so expensive?’ and ‘Can I have a discount?’. It’s heartbreaking. Our makers have poured hours/days/years of practice into their craft and many of them are highly educated! They deserve to get paid well in exchange for spreading the joy of handmade items into our lives. Show our artists some love and respect their prices. PROJECT A doesn’t decide what to charge, we leave that task to our valuable 80+ rotating makers - they know best and we fully support them in their decisions.

Had tons of fun yesterday merchandising with @50ftqueeni So happy to have Georgi running the shop with me, she keeps me on task and organized - which is no easy job. Thank you for all you do @ PROJECT A

Thirty paintings are heading to PROJECT A, Canmore tomorrow! This beautiful retail shop features 80+ Canadian artists. Happy to have my work there for almost 3 years now!

PROJECT A is a curated shop dedicated to supporting emerging Canadian artists. Our modern storefront carries artwork and products from over 80 artists and is constantly changing! Our team is small and devoted. We provide excellent one-on-one customer service and organize weekly pop ups and events, making PROJECT A an exciting place to work! We are looking for a part-time sales associate who share our passion for the arts and buying local! Should you join us, your responsibili...ties will include: Providing above industry standard customer service Cash management Merchandising and inventory control General maintenance and cleaning on a daily basis Candidates must be available on weekends and evenings. Shop hours fluctuate between 9AM-9PM depending on the season. This position will be for 3 days/week. We are looking for a self-motivated, organized individual. Retail experience and arts education will get you brownie points but we really want someone who is passionate about creativity and learning with a WOW personality! Feeling all the Summer feels today

I haven’t been very present on our social media lately (and emails TBH). I’ve been enjoying the sunshine and trying to recover from a very stressful Spring season and, honestly, I am having a blast this Summer. PROJECT A is open daily, so even if you don’t see us on your feed, stop by and say hi! Please know that I still appreciate every single one of you and I am forever thankful for the support. June 21, the day we celebrate Indigenous peoples and all of the wonderful cultures that have lived on these lands for much longer than anyone else. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, I honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. I acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Regio...n 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, I acknowledge all Nations, indigenous and non, who live, work and play and help us steward this land, honour and celebrate this territory. I post this painting today, ‘Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump’ by Métis artist Tayler Schenkeveld because it consistently reminds me our my minor, but very important Indigenous roots through my great grandmother, who instilled within me a love of traditional craft and no doubt shaped my current career.
