Mission PC Monday - Family Day edition! Today we are highlighting one of our eight core values: Learning from Experience. We believe in the value of constant learning as an important way to grow as individuals, grow as an organization, and to remain relevant and responsive to the needs of our youth. At PC, this takes many forms! Many elements of our programs are completely new to youth, and we work hard to create inclusive spaces where youth can try new things while feeling... safe and supported. We value and implement challenge-by-choice and a high degree of agency for our youth as they experience collaborative decision making, problem solving, and learning about their own unique strengths and capabilities. Do you recall a specific experience that has helped you grow? We’d love to hear about it! Share below.
For PC’s Feature Fridays this month, we’ll be featuring individuals and organizations that are working to create safer and more inclusive outdoor spaces. Today, we are #reposting this important message crafted by @inclusivelyoutdoors! We can all be both oppressed and the oppressor. What can you do with the privileges you have? What privileges are you unaware of? Who can help you create that awareness? Think about the worlds you inhabit in outdoor culture and locate where pr...ivilege exists. Moving from unawareness to awareness can activate allyship and advocacy. We will always have more work to do as we learn and grow in our commitment to anti-oppression and anti-racism in the outdoors. We want to continue the conversation with all of you - our community - through resource sharing, discussions, and reflections. Please share below: How does this post make you feel? Does it spark anything in you? Are there any insightful resources or important figures that you learn from? BTW - in March, @inclusivelyoutdoors will begin offering group coaching for BIPOC leaders employed in the conservation, outdoor, and environmental industries. #inclusiveoutdoors #getoutside #outdoordiversity #eqaulityforall #allyship

Mission PC Monday Today we are highlighting one of our eight core values: Sensitivity to Personal Situations. At Project Canoe, we seek to be responsive to and understanding of each young person’s talents, context, and barriers to support them in finding their own voice and plotting a course for a series of successes. Through our programs, we provide space and empathy for youth to feel seen, understood, and celebrated for who they are. ... Even in misty pockets on the lake, where the route ahead may not be clear, there is always a guiding light along the horizon. By remaining sensitive to unique personal situations, we know that this guiding light looks different to everyone - and we are committed to working with each youth to uncover their own. #projectcanoe #youth #outdoors #openness #support #presence #reflection #canoe
