Soaking up every ounce of sunshine we can. It goes without saying 2020 has not been our year. Summer in the Okanagan arrived so late this year (it hit a high of 12 degrees on Canada day and we had to throw the horses' blankets on!) that it makes it seem so short lived now that autumn is just around the corner. It did have an affect on training this year, but luckily the weather looks like it is going to hold up for a few more weeks! We have also had a few injuries over spring... and summer that gave a couple of horses the season off. In the older horses especially, even when you take every precaution and ensure they are completely warmed up before working injuries are just inevitable. That being said a few of the horses will be retiring soon so they can enjoy their senior years and just be horses. Time just flies all too quickly, so it is evenings like this one that make us take a step back and be grateful for what we have.

Only a few weeks left of summer. The days are getting shorter and autumn is just around the corner. We are trying to soak up as much of this beautiful weather as we can before it turns. Evenings like this are really what make me dread the change in seasons, but I'm sure the horses are looking forward to a break from the heat
