Congratulations to our very own David Volpov for graduating with his BFA in Acting from UBC! He is talented, hardworking, and overall a great friend and colleague, and we at Promethean are so proud to call him family. Vancouver is in for something good.

We are Casting!! Title: Salome Playwright: Oscar Wilde Company: Promethean Theatre... Director: Seamus Fera Choreographer: Chantal Gering Intimacy Director: Phay Moores Venue: Firehall Arts Centre Rehearsals: July 20th- August 14th Run: August 15th-30th Compensation: Box Office Split Audition Date: March 16th 2020 Audition Venue: BMO Theatre Centre - 162 W 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC. Audition requirement: A 2-3 Minute classical monologue. Please bring a headshot and resume Roles: Jokanaan- A prophet of christ and prisoner of king Herod. He devout follower who has an unknown magnetism about him. An Adonis with the innocence of a lamb. *The role of Jokanaan may include partial nudity (bare chest) and scenes of violence and intimacy.* Synopsis: King Herod is throwing a banquet. His step daughter/niece, Salome, steps outside for some air and is haunted by the prophetic voice of Jokanaan, who is being kept as a prisoner. When he is brought up, Salome is immediately drawn to him, who quickly spurns her as base and vile. Driven by her desire, Salome will stop at nothing to get the one thing she wants- a kiss from Jokanaan. Notes: Please note that this production includes simulated scenes of self harm and suicide as well as themes of incest, sexuality and violence. The role of Salome will include a choreographed dance which culminates in the removal of a shirt/bra. We will be supported by an intimacy director throughout the process who will help navigate scenes of intimacy. Promethean Theatre is committed to diverse, inclusive casting. Kerry Woodrow - THE BOSS Kerry studied theatre in the 70's at Brock University but left to work to support his family. After a 35 year carrer in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Marine engineer he returned to his first love and came to Vancouver to study acting. Achieving his diploma in acting in film, Television and Voice with Vancouver Acting School he continued to work with the VAS Theatre Conservatory. He can be heard in a number of audiobooks and commercials and his most rec...ent film appearance is in the 2019 Indian drama Sarhaba: Cry For Freedom. David Volpov - WHIT David is enjoying his second season with Promethean as an actor, and his first season as an artistic associate on the team. He's also pursuing a Master of Management in order to get some of those pesky business skills required for theatre.
