Pattie McLean at Tomorrow Today Ayr is such a dear! After I did work for her, she posted this review on our Facebook page: "Julianna has been an integral part of helping to pivot my service-based business to virtuality. With Covid-19 temporarily closing my business I was looking for quick and efficient strategy. Julianna provided the strategy and so much more. My first call to Julianna was so reassuring. She was able to understand what I was facing and assured me I was heade...d in the right direction. Julianna helped create a plan that included viable business solutions that pivoted my business quickly and seamlessly. She had the answers that I needed, kept me focused through the transition and was essential in giving me the step forward into virtual business!" Yes, women do support women. #challengeaccepted I'm so grateful for the wonderful women in my life! And thanks for sharing this with me, @worldtreechocolate! I'm also grateful for many men and others in my life that dont subscribe to the two genders...but apparently someone has had the audacity to say that women don't support women. So everyone that identifies as women, together we stick it to the patriarchy. ... #togetherwestand #womensupportingwomen @ Guelph, Ontario

Your business may have a broad audience, such as social enterprises, like I do. BUT, for a specific campaign, you may want to target just one group within that. For each marketing campaign, whether it is a newsletter, social media post, webinar, etc, it can be really helpful to know your specific audience for the specific campaign. For example, say you want to sell your sustainably grown strawberries to bakeries, and you want to reach them through a newsletter.... You’ll want the newsletter to speak specifically to bakers by addressing their needs and showing them appropriate content that they really connect with. To do this, first create a customer persona for a typical baker that you could sell strawberries to. Give this imaginary baker a name (like Rexton), and answer some questions that pertain to this imaginary business, such as: What are their goals? What are their values? Who are their customers? What are their concerns? What kind of communication they prefer? If you search 'customer personas', you will find plenty of templates online. Keep the customer persona that you have created and add to it as you learn more about you audience segment over time. Once you have a customer persona, it’s much easier to write content that will be appealing, valuable and relevant to them! Need help understanding your customer segment? PM me or book a time through the link in my bio! #organic #sustainablefarming #marketingforfarmers #organicfarm #organicfarming #localbusiness #localfarm #localfarming #marketing #customerpersona #contentmarketing #socialenterprise #canadianagriculture #ecommerce #targetmarket

Do you love wildlife? How about sharks?? Ever wanted to start a podcast? A couple years ago, I worked with a professor, Dr. Steve Crawford at the University of Guelph on a research project focused on Great White Sharks around New Zealand. Dr. Crawford had earlier interviewed >70 expert knowledge holders from a wide variety of backgrounds: swimmers , boarders, surf life savers, scuba divers, spearfishermen, boaters, commercial & recreational fishermen, marine eco...logists, and two shark tour dive operators. The aim of the project is to investigate the insights that different knowledge systems (Indigenous, Local and Science) can contribute to (1) conservation ecology and (2) management decision-making regarding the population of Great Whites inhabiting coastal waters of New Zealand . Special attention is placed on management conflicts between the NZ Department of Conservation and people of the Foveaux Strait region, regarding shark cage tour dive operations. While transcribing interviews for Dr. Crawford, I had the pleasure of hearing incredible stories about these individuals' experiences with great whites and other sharks, including the first recorded observation of white shark mating! Recently I talked asked Steve what he thought about turning this series of interviews into a podcast. He thought this could be a cool idea and would like to chat with people who are interested. This could be a great way of having the interviews get further traction, so that ultimately, more of us can be engaged in the conservation of Great White and other species. If you are interested in this project, please get in touch with me and after a quick chat, I can connect you with the scientist himself! For more information about the research project or to read some interviews, visit www.whitepointer.cloud. It's time for a Dino Wednesday post! ‘HOW did dinos get so big?!’ Buckle up, it's going to get a bit sciencey! Animals face challenges when it comes to getting big, including dissipating extra heat created through metabolism over a minimal body surface area, and getting enough oxygen to all of the tissues. Different animals deal with these challenges in different ways, so let’s focus on a couple ways the long necks (sauropods) overcame them!... likely didn’t chew their food. Just gulping the greens down meant that they didn’t need space for teeth or muscles in their heads. Their small, light head allowed their necks to be really long, which in turn provided a huge surface area to release heat which also allowed them to reach food that others couldn’t! also likely had a bird-style respiratory system , which is WAY more efficient than that of mammals! This allowed a light build, and a super efficient use of space, with a system that could take up enough oxygen to feed the huge body. This system would have included air sacs in the neck which would further lighten the neck, allowing their necks to get longer. All the air pockets in the neck would have also allowed the air passing through to absorb the excess heat from surrounding tissues as it was exhaled. In biology, ‘how’ something works comes down to evolution, genes, and the expression of those genes in an environment which feeds back into the process. In business, it comes down to the expression of your hard work, dedication, persistence, and plans, and the environment feeds back into that. So, how can you work with what is in your control, pivot when needed, optimize on opportunities, and continue to change and grow? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, so please share your comments Need some help with strategizing, pivoting, or developing your business? Like so many others, I've had times in the last couple months where motivation has dropped and I've had to regroup, adjust, and figure out the next steps. Things I've found that help me get into the groove lately are... Reaching out for help when I need it.... Reconnecting with my goals and purpose Reviewing my business plan and updating my marketing strategy. Creating routines, especially for fun stuff, putting many of them in my calendar: Making sure to have video chats with ppl I care about, and TRYING to do it outside of work time! Doing a fear dump in my journal as a bit of a spring cleaning, so I can start fresh. Doing productive things as I feel like it, recognizing the crazy world I'm in and not being too hard on myself! I hope some of these ideas help you to find some motivation to continue plugging away at the essential service you provide, your business or in your hobbies. What are some of the things you do to stay motivated? @ Guelph, Ontario

Make it easier for your customers to find you! A big part of marketing to me is making the path that the client needs to take to get to you EASIER, more EFFICIENT and an ENJOYABLE process! If not, the customer is likely to find someone else to purchase similar products and services from! And you dont want that! Having a clear, easy path makes the client's experience a good one, so that they want to come back for more! ...and, inevitably makes your sales do thi...s: Need help with making the route from prospects to you more clear and easy?
