Another job complete. A couple weeks for siding to arrive but we move onto the next job. A little basement reno is next on the books.

An open letter to Justin Trudeau and Jason Kenney. Sirs, Today the last straw was dropped on this camels back. Today, in the middle of a farm community in South...ern Alberta, I saw a senior citizen offering to do house cleaning in exchange for groceries. This wasn’t in some large urban centre. She wasn’t homeless and asking for cash handouts. This woman, who has probably contributed more to our society over her time on earth than you could ever dream of doing , was trying to stay alive by trading labor for food! You two gentlemen stand behind podiums in your bespoke suits, perfectly secure in your multi million dollar pensions, and offer us nothing but platitudes and slogans. Mr. Kenney, I give you credit for trying to move our province forward within the bounds of the rules of Confederation, but our federal government has clearly shown us over and over again that there are NO RULES. Government was originally conceived as a method of tackling the jobs that required the collective cooperation of all citizens to achieve. Defense, law, and major capital projects that were too large for individual communities to handle. Government was never intended to shape or engineer our social fabric. It was never intended to tax and regulate us from cradle to grave. Civil servants have become an untouchable ruling class with the power of life or death over those they are supposed to serve. 40% of the average household income goes to social services that at one time were handled by communities. Parents can no longer afford to stay home and raise their children, and must entrust their care to those with a vested interest in continuing bureaucratic rule. Seniors, who spent decades building our communities and country, are given bare subsistence at the end of their working lives. Veterans who offer up their lives for service receive a pittance, and have to continue to fight their own government for compensation for injuries sustained in service to our country. Meanwhile, saintly slipper wearing slackers carry signs and sit on the train tracks trying to tear down the society that gave them the leisure time to bitch. Government panders to the virtue signalling and crafts policy to appease these spoiled, entitled parasites. Every one of you should be ashamed of your role in bringing us to our current situation. Miss Dolly standing on the corner this morning was the last straw. I can’t in good conscience support Confederation in its current form. Today Miss Dolly made me a separatist. UPDATE! We’ve been able to get back in contact with Dolly! I’m meeting her for dinner tomorrow, and hopefully I can set up a way for those who have asked to help her out. I will post again when I have something worked out. This is an opportunity for us as a community to do the right thing, for no other reason than it’s the right thing to do! Thanks to all who commented and shared! Now let’s get together and make a difference!

Out with the old in with the new. Time to move onto sod and irrigation. This is gonna be an amazing back yard transformation
