Okay I’ve just got to say something. Horsemanship is horsemanship. It doesn’t look like flat hats and rawhide riatas. It doesn’t look like dressage saddles an...d polo wraps. It doesn’t look like bridle bits and silver, or factory saddles and blingy headstalls. It isn’t barrel racers, team ropers, ranch ropers, reiners, or cutters. Nor is it jumpers, dressage riders, trail riders, or buckaroos..... Horsemanship looks like all of that. And none of it. It DOES look like fair hands and consistent expectations. It does look like a shiny coat and maintained hooves. It does look like relaxed ears and loose lips. It does look like your horses’ willingness to be your partner. It simply looks like how you treat your horse. So let’s let go of these harmful preconceived notions of how one sport or hobby or stereotype is better or worse for their horse. And let’s look at the bigger and more important picture: Who is a horseman? Would your horse say that you are?
Our last home bred colt of the year is en route to his new home in British Columbia! This fancy little stallion embodies so much of both Original Cowboy and Cha...rlie Hilfiger, from his dam’s side. Congratulations Stephanie Conti - I know it’s been a long wait and we’re so excited for Gage to be in your barn! Update, FOUND !!! Want to say thanks to everyone that shared my post to help find my horse, thanks to a hunter who found him and a big thanks to Stone Mountain ...safaris for keeping an eye out and for getting ahold of us and letting us know hes been found, he is on his way home and doing good! I was just on a sheep hunt up in northern bc near Stone Mountain safaris, I was on a solo hunt with just my horse and dog, the fifth night in the mountains my house broke his tie off rope over night and took off, I spent two days hiking and looking for him but with no luck in finding him, if anyone happens to be up that way and hears of someone finding a horse or if you see him please contact me Weve already contacted people from Stone Mountain safaris as well as a few other outfitters that work in that area to help keep an eye out for him as well

Martina Navratilova was once asked, How do you maintain your focus, physique and sharp game even at the age of 43?" She gave a humble reply, The ball doesnt... know how old I am. You need to stop yourself from stopping yourself. Every game in life is actually played on a 6-inch ground the space between your two ears. We don't live in bungalows, duplexes, or flats. We live in our mind which is an unlimited area. Life is great when things are sorted and uncluttered there. Keeping the mind messy with hatred growing on the table, regrets piling up in the corner, expectations boiling in the kitchen, secrets stuffed under the carpet, and worries littered everywhere ruin this real home. The key factor to performing well in life and in every arena is the ability to control the quality and quantity of your internal dialogue. Performance is potential minus internal interference. Live in peace, not in pieces.

SCQHA would first like to announce that the Novice show will be postponed until 2021. We have been considering replacing it with an All Breed Open Show ...and a Clinic with Jodie Moore. The clinic would be on August 8, and the show would be offered on the 9 of August at the Kelowna riding club. Under the current conditions with COVID 19 we are limited to how many people would be allowed at each event. We recognize that this is short notice to get this organized but also want to give an opportunity for people to get out and show. There would be requirements in order for us to move forward with this show. *You will be required to complete registration on line. *You would be required to paid by etransfer only. *You will be required to wear a mask in common areas where social distancing is limited. *We will be limiting entries and it will be on a first come serve basis with a deadline of Aug 2. *You will be limited to one non riding person for support with you and your horse. If you can manage on your own that is preferable. Under these conditions who of you would be willing to participate?
Horses can become easily startled, posing a danger to both rider and motorist. Drivers, you may also not know that horses can sometimes trip, and because of th...eir size and weight, have to take a few steps sideways to get their body and legs under control. For this reason, please pass horses and riders slow and wide. More tips: https://www.tranbc.ca//how-to-share-the-road-safely-with-/
How do you explain this to your riders?
