I was telling a story to a friend yesterday and it was obvious by their glossy eyes that their mind was a million miles away and they didn't hear a word I said, despite their obligatory 'uh huh'. While easily forgivable, I was very aware of how disrespected and unimportant I felt in the moment, even though I knew my friend would never impose those feelings on me. It was a wonderful reminder to me that while it's easy for our monkey minds to dart like a pinball machine to th...e many important details that are making demands on us throughout the day, there is a grace that comes from concentrating our energy on simply where we are at any given moment, when we can.
