Our former city council candidate Stuart Parker interviews our former school board candidate Dean McGee about a cherished party policy, pulling out of the public sector employers' association and going back to local bargaining with our teachers, as a provincial teachers' strike looks increasingly likely.
Charlie Smith reminds Georgia Straight readers that we saw some of this coming.
We supported reactivating the Interurban rail line during the election and we continue to support commuter rail as a necessary addition to LRT and Skytrain development south of the Fraser. Glad to see Frank on board!
CONTEST: Keeping with our tradition of mixing a bit of fun with our politics we are having a contest. Just guess who will be the next City Councillor to dump Doug McCallum and we will buy you a meal and a beverage at Kelly's Pub in Newton https://www.proudlysurrey.ca/2019/06/28/whos-next/
This is why we advocated creating CisLink during the municipal election. Translink is out of touch with residents south of the Fraser. We should have our own transportation authority.
Many people, especially in the trade union movement, wondered why we campaigned on pulling out of provincial school bargaining and making local deals to ensure good learning and working conditions. This is why we campaigned to pull out of the BC PSEA. Twenty years of provincial education bargaining has been a failure. NDP or Liberal, Glen Clark, Dan Miller, Ujjal Dosanjh, Gordon Campbell, Christy Clark, John Horgan: it doesn't matter; when we have provincial bargaining, students, parents and educators lose.
When the Safe Surrey Coalition decided to make an image of the Trump White House its web site backdrop, we had no idea that it was promising the same kind of chaos, disunity and a revolving door of officials. We just assumed they were promising the same kind of senescent, incoherent mean-spiritedness.
Our headquarters finally has a Facebook page.
Our city council candidate Stuart Parker will be discussing the impact of Vancouver City Council's SkyTrain vote on transit south of the Fraser tomorrow morning on CKNW. Tune in!
Here is our former council candidate Stuart Parker offering criticisms of Surrey's new policy direction under his new party, especially with respect to policing and transit.
Tune in for our first media coverage of the year.
I will be Mike Smyth's guest on @CKNW tomorrow at 11:30am tomorrow (Friday) rebutting mayor Doug McCallum's theory that municipal elections are about deciding h...ow to spend the BC government's surplus. Tune in! The Proudly Surrey team sacrificed a lot of votes for refusing to join other opposition politicians in hornswoggling voters into believing the election was over whether we were getting LRT or Skytrain.
This is what we said all throughout this past election.
Thank you to all those in #SurreyBC who heard our message and considered what we had to say during this campaign. Even if you didn't vote for us, it was an honour to talk to you about public policy and the future of our City.
We are at Newton Seniors Centre and it looks like about 10-15 minutes to get in to the polling place and about 30 minutes overall. We suggest W.E. Kinvig Elementary at 13266 70B Ave if you are heading out now. #SurreyBC #SurreyVotes2018
Mr.Parshotam Goel at work calling all voters to get out and vote.
Here are the locations based on how busy they are
We are here at Guilford Rec Centre and it looks like its easing up. 10 -15 minutes. We expect that to increase in the final rush, so we advise that you use the Schools as they seem to have less volume. #SurreyBC #SurreyVotes2018
Thank you so much! Keep sending us your pictures showing support
After some feedback from voters. There seems to be a lack of communication about where to go after you have marked your ballot, especially at the busy stations. If you are not sure, please ask the staff. It's their job to help you out. #SurreyBC #SurreyVotes2018
Voter support, thank you Tracy!
Cloverdale Rec Centre has 2 voting machines but there are long lineups to submit your ballot to the machine. People are waiting about 10 minutes to get into the polling place and other 15 minutes to submit their ballots. The parking lot is full. #SurreyBC #SurreyVotes2018
Pauline Greaves voted, have you? Please help us remind voters to get out there
For those with chemical sensitivities. The voting machine has a slightly higher concentration of ink around it and may have an affect on you. Please notify elections staff for assistance if you have any chemical sensitivities #SurreyBC #SurreyVotes2018
Construction on 24th in South Surrey. If you are trying to get to the polls find another route. We have put in a complaint to the Surrey Elections Office as we see it as a form of voter suppression #SurreyBC #SurreyVotes2018
Thanks for your support!
At our office all day calling, stop by and say hi, maybe even make some calls while we chat. moral support is always welcomed. Come on by!
We can't let know-nothing populism destroy the future of Surrey. Take a moment to read what our Pauline Greaves PhD. and Stuart Parker PhD. have to say about what is at stake in tomorrow's election. #SurreyBC
Change was the number one priority of Ontarians and Quebeckers this year. But by not thinking clearly about the kind of change needed, they contributed to a global wave of know-nothing populism. We cannot let Surrey be next!
Tune into 107.7 Pulse FM this morning at 7:30am to hear our Council Candidates and then at 8:30am to hear our Trustee Candidates.

With cannabis legalization mere hours away. We have decided to highlight our long established cannabis policy, which was originally announced last May. A Proudly Surrey City Council will establish a special municipal license of marijuana sales, the first eight of which will be issued to city-owned stores situated in each major neighbourhood, staffed by qualified, responsible employees A Proudly Surrey City Council will maintain low licensing costs for municipal stores and an...y additional private stores the city may license Low licensing costs will be maintained so that a per-transaction or per-gram tax can be levied on each purchase as per the provisions of the license This municipal tax and all profits derived from City run stores will be transferred directly to the Surrey School Board to spend at its discretion. There will be no revenue splitting with the City Please pass this post to the left.

Parshotam Goel talks to Zee TV about his vast experience in business and how he plans to help make the City of Surrey a place for the Many and not the Few.
We want to thank the BCGEU for its endorsement of Pauline Greaves to be the next Mayor of Surrey. The Union has also endorsed Parshotam Goel , Felix Kongyuy Adam MacGillivray and Stuart Parker for Surrey City Council. We have been talking about making Surrey a City for the Many, not the Few and this has resonated with one of British Columbia's largest and most diverse unions. The BCGEU endorsement of our candidates means a great deal to us and we will not let the labour mov...ement and working people down. On October 20th we have an opportunity for real change in Surrey. Vote for Pauline Greaves and the Proudly Surrey Team.

In an effort to show transparency in this election, Proudly Surrey has published all major donors to our campaign. We are very proud to have people like former Premier Glen Clark support us. We thank all our donors, large and small.

When kids have a chance to participate in sports they are less likely to get involved in gang activities. As a part of our anti gang strategy Proudly Surrey will eliminate the barriers for participation so that kids can play the sports they love at the highest levels.
Blessed to have so much help with our signs.
There has been an allegation of a massive voter fraud operation at work in the Surrey election targeting mail-in ballots. Pauline Greaves and Proudly Surrey are calling on Elections BC to immediately suspend the mail-in voting process until this matter is resolved. We can not allow a few to steal the election from the many.
Council Candidate Stuart Parker lays out the core of our campaign. On October 20th, vote for Pauline Greaves and the Proudly Surrey Team.
For decades, the BNSF line that runs through South Surrey and White Rock has been a point of contention. Residents have been calling for reduced noise, elimination of dangerous cargo, crossing safety, and the establishment of commuter rail. We have had enough of meetings that go nowhere. Pauline Greaves and Proudly Surrey will work with neighbouring cities and senior levels of government with the aim to expropriate BNSF and get on with building a transportation network that works for the many and not the few.
Helping kids with disabilities is never bad, but we can’t leave FASD kids behind again
I was truly honoured to be able to attend the Surrey Cares foundation awards reception this week with School Trustee Candidate, Rina Diaz. Thank you for having us! What a wonderful and inspiring group!
