Message from Superintendent Paul Bennett regarding important education survey expected to arrive next month: In January and February many parents will receive a survey in their mailbox from Alberta Education. Please take a few moments to complete this survey - your participation is very important to us. Your response to the survey provides valuable information regarding what is working in schools and what needs improvement. Your answers to the questions in the survey are con...fidential and are considered during school and divisional planning. Therefore, this survey provides an opportunity for you to impact decision making regarding your child’s education and school. The survey is mailed to parents in grades 4, 7 and 10 (unless the school has fewer than 120 students in grades 4-12 in which case the survey will be expanded to include all students and parents). To ensure we receive as many responses back from parents as possible, the survey comes with a postage paid return envelope. Thank you in advance for your time spent in completing the survey. Paul Rowe Jr./Sr. High School is collecting non-perishable food items for their annual Christmas Food Hamper Drive. Student involvement in initiatives such as this provides students with the opportunity to be involved in activities that help the community, work as a team and also creates great school spirit. Grade five students at Manning Elementary School are learning the lyrics, how to play, and the history behind the Métis song "The Huron Carol" in honor of Métis Week. "The Huran Carol" also known as ‘Twas in the Moon of Winter Time, is considered to be the first Canadian carol. Originally taken from the Huron language and set to the melody of a 16th century French carol, it tells the story of the Nativity using symbols and figures readily understood by the Huron Indians Go...d as the Great Spirit and the Wisemen as Chiefs." - Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Today Central Operations celebrated the belated birthday of Peace River School Divisions Superintendent of Schools, Paul Bennett. Mr. Bennett participated in an Instructional Leadership meeting this morning when the rest of our team joined virtually and sang him Happy Birthday! PRSD Central Operations staff wrote heartfelt birthday wishes, which are on display in our building. Happy Birthday, Mr. Bennett!

The board is meeting today for the final board meeting of 2020. Once again, the Grimshaw Public School Hot Lunch Moms and volunteers cooked a delicious Christmas Dinner for students in kindergarten to grade six. This annual treat from the Hot Lunch Moms is something the students and staff always look forward to. Thanks so much to all those that were a part of making this happen again this year!

How awesome! In honor of Métis Week students at Worsley Central School are being treated to bison stew and bannock on Friday. No packing lunches for parents on Friday--- another treat for Parents Matter Week :)

Paul Rowe Jr./Sr. High School is treating their parents and guardians with chilli dinner this Thursday for Parents Matter Appreciation Week. Normally the school would have a sit-down dinner for parents and guardians at the school but due to COVID-19, they will be offering a curbside delivery at the school while adhering to all COVID protocols. We love how creative our schools are being with ways to celebrate parents and guardians!
