Émile Benveniste's work was brought to our attention originally by friend of the studio Lisa Robertson. Benveniste was a French 20th century linguist and philosopher of language, originally born in Syria in 1902. His ideas surrounding rhythm, context, and even pronouns have taken on new significance in the 21st century.
