A quick guide on what to expect and the power of working with a therapist. Starting a therapy journey is an opportunity for clients to get to know their therapist and define goals and boundaries. After working together client and therapist develop a unique plan to address the needs of the client. Preparing for a session begins with being ready to be open, honest, and vulnerable. This is the best way to get the most out of therapy. Discussing with the therapist any uncomfort...able feelings is a great way to ease into difficult topics and helps to grow trust within the experience. Psych therapists work towards gaining client trust and always suspend judgment. After a session, some of the things you can look forward to are feeling supported and active in problem-solving. A feeling of getting out of your head and a chance to process hard feelings with tools and choices that can make positive change. If you are thinking about working with a therapist, we are here for you. Reach out and let us know how we can help. #thursdaythoughts #psychotherapy #torontopsychotherapist #torontolifecoach #psychcompany #lifecoaching #positivity #mentalhealth #wellness #selfcare

In a hyper-connected world, it is easy to feel that we are all in competition. That feeling can motivate us, but it can also make us feel isolated and anxious. The true path is that we are all working together in this life. Compete with your own goals and measure your success with the way you treat others. I wish you a great week ahead. Whatever you do, make it a good one. #psychcompany

We recognize #mothersday today. For some families, it is a day for joy and appreciation. For others, however, it can be a time of mourning, sorrow, and uncomfortable feelings. Whatever the day looks like for you, remember that you are loved and that your experience is valid. To all the mothers and caregivers, the world is a grateful place for all that you do. #psychcompany #torontolifecoach

#Anger is an #emotion which includes your state of #mind as well as the physiological reactions of your #body such as increased adrenaline, #heart rate and blood pressure. This is our fight or flight response to something we perceive as harmful or threatening. Just like a tiger may bare it’s teeth and growl, angry #energy causes similar reactions in people such as changes in our body posture or tone of voice. We cannot exist without experiencing anger on some level. It is and has been essential to survival for millions of years. To learn more follow our link. https://bit.ly/psychangermanage

People often think that #assertive means #aggressive or #bullying, but being assertive doesn’t mean aggressive. It means that you can treat others #respectfully while at the same time demanding respect for yourself. Being assertive can be difficult for people that were bullied, shamed, or #emotionally manipulated as children. Assertiveness training is designed to help adults who have trouble being assertive learn how to #communicate their needs and wants, and listen to the needs and wants of others, so that they can be assertive in a healthy and productive way. Adults who learn the right methods of being assertive have better interpersonal skills than people who haven’t gone through assertiveness #training. #Anxiety is the #natural response the body produces when it is presented with a #stressful situation. When faced with a situation we are not familiar or comfortable with, the body enacts a #flight or #fight response. Even if the situation is not life-threatening, the #individual suffering from anxiety can be filled with #fear about the #circumstances and the #unknown of what is to follow. While dealing with these types of anxiety is challenging, there are several practices you can incorporate into your daily life. Deep #breathing through nose, #exhale through mouth. The #assertive #communication definition is communication that is confident, whereas the definition of #aggressive communication is forceful or belligerent. It’s easy to see why people think that aggressive and assertive mean the same thing. But they are very different. Techniques to communicate with assertiveness focus on an individual respecting the rights of others as well their own needs. Aggressive communication is usually not respectful of anyone else and it can be very angry or forceful. In contrast, assertive communication skills emphasize talking about issues or problems using I statement that don’t make assumptions about the feelings of others. Aggressive communication doesn’t take the rights or feeling of others into consideration at all. For more information and tips, visit our blog https://bit.ly/Asserttraining
