Peterborough Folk Festival 28.10.2020

Like us, we are sure you’re feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on your family, our community, and our way of life. While the decision to cancel the Dr...agon Boat Festival was extremely difficult to make, we were heartened by the positive feedback we received; thank you for your words of support and encouragement! At this time of year, we’d usually be busy with final preparations to make sure the Festival is a totally epic way to kick off your summer. Community Teams would be having fun practicing, and fundraising efforts would be in full swing. ***We’re missing all of the excitement leading up to the big day but most of all ...WE MISS YOU! We hope you’re staying safe and healthy, and are able to reach out to friends and family to stay connected.*** As we adjust to a new normal and try to embrace the changes brought on by this pandemic, we know that some things have not changed, and have not stopped. Cancer has not taken a hiatus and our Festival is still committed to supporting world-class cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment in our region. We are still working behind the scenes for our community and we haven’t forgotten about the 1 in 8 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. If you are in a position to join us in supporting this year's fundraising priority for Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation, RIVA (Robotic IV Automation) chemotherapy technology, please visit our website at http://www.ptbodragonboat.ca to make a donation. Thanks again for your commitment and support of Peterborough’s Dragon Boat Festival; but most importantly, we want you to stay safe so we can all get through this uncertain time; we’re all in this together! ***Keep watching our social media for some fun ways you can still be involved in this year's festival*** On behalf of Peterborough’s Dragon Boat Festival, we’ll be thinking of you all on June 13! Gina Lee, Festival Chair

With regret the Peterborough Folk Festival Board announces the cancellation of the August 21-23 Festival at Nicholls Oval Park due to the ongoing public health crisis. We wish to express our gratitude to attendees, vendors, sponsors, artists, the whole Peterborough and Kawarthas community, and most of all to the volunteers without their contributions the last 30 festivals would not have been possible. Peterborough Folk Festival is a celebration of music, art, culture, and abo...ve all else community. Although our community has been shaken we are resilient. We are eager to share our future plans, as we want to continue the Folk Festivals history of creating community driven positive and equitable space. We are proud that not a single ticket refund will be issued for the August 21-23 Nicholls Oval Festival as we remain committed to providing free live music for the community by the community. On behalf of the whole PFF family Thank you Peterborough,We hope to see you all soon See more

Just launched: GIVE TODAY AND DOUBLE THE IMPACT OF YOUR DONATION! PRHC Foundation is so pleased to share that David Morton and Patricia Morton, long-time cham...pions of PRHC, have stepped forward with a matching gift of up to $50,000 to encourage all who can, to support Peterborough Regional Health Centre's brave staff. Donations in support of the PRHC Foundations COVID-19 response effort will be matched to help fund investments like additional ventilators, laryngoscopes for emergency intubation, additional ICU beds, wellness supports for staff who must stay at the hospital while treating patients, and more protective equipment and scrubs to help keep them safe. Through this generous matching gift, our goal is to raise $100,000 part of our ongoing efforts to fundraise for the investments needed to support PRHCs response to COVID-19. Please give today if you can. Thanks to the Mortons, your donation to the Foundations COVID-19 response fund will go twice as far to support the work of our frontline healthcare professionals. https://bit.ly/2wJaIW2 Thank you to Mary Zita Payne for her photography.

For all those folks picking up needed food, a reminder that the Peterborough Farmers Market is open tomorrow. Some of our festival vendors are long-standing market vendors too. Stay safe, support local farmers and businesses.

Peterborough Folk Festival 12.02.2020

Im ready and excited for my first live stream concert right here from the basement at Roxton Road! It will broadcast live at www.facebook.com/homeroutes on Ap...ril 2, this Thursday, 9 p.m. EDT. Ill be singing songs from my new album, Calm In The Eye Of The Storm as well as whatever strikes my fancy from the hundreds of songs I know. I was supposed to be performing in Owen Sound this coming weekend and getting ready for a couple of weeks of shows in Alberta and B.C. through Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous. It wont take the place of actually sitting with a room full of people and singing together but in these unusual times Im thrilled to be singing for people. The show will also be archived on YouTube later. Let me know if you have any requests below or by email at [email protected] See more

Lay Low - I accidentally wrote the #SelfIsolation #Quarantine theme song a few years ago #covid19 #coronavirus #quarantunes Lay Low... Everything, all the time, everywhere What to say? where to go? Best of times, I'm a little unaware Who's to say? I don't know But I feel my head overflow And I was tired at the get go And I don't want to wait around to fall apart So I will do my part And make the social graces Quick and painless Lay low Just let the day go Im okay in the shadows Every single party needs a no show Why go just to say so? Im tired of the same old So point me the way home I can breathe on the way home I don't mean to be the quiet sullen type I've had my day in the sun But not today and definitely not tonight Give my best to everyone Sometimes I feel my head overflow When all I need is us alone 'Cause you can always fix me when I fall apart So let's do our part Make the social graces Quick and painless Lay low Just let the day go Im okay in the shadows Every single party needs a no show Why go just to say so? Im tired of the same old So point me the way home I can breathe on the way home
