Pain is your body’s way of letting you know something’s wrong. The area of affected sends pain signals to the brain: We’ve been hit! Being able to describe your pain provides vital information for a doctor or physiotherapist to diagnose the problem, suggest a course of treatment and get you on the road to recovery. But pain can be all consuming - where do you even begin? https://bit.ly/3jIqbK3

Did you know that dizziness and imbalance can be the result of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (or BPPV), the most common cause of vertigo? This #BalanceAwarenessWeek, Sheelah Woodhouse, National Director of Vestibular Rehabilitation at Lifemark, explains how the inner ear causes this spinning sensation.

Repost from @pthealth This week is #BalanceAwarenessWeek; an annual awareness campaign organized by the Vestibular Disorder Association (VeDA) to broaden the public's understanding of balance-related vestibular disorders. The overarching goal of Balance Awareness Week is to raise awareness of balance-related disorders by making vestibular a household word that everyone can easily understand, so that people who lose their balance can be more rapidly diagnosed, effectively treated, and gain the empathetic support they need from friends, family, and co-workers.

Good balance is often taken for granted. Most people dont find it difficult to walk across a gravel driveway, transition from walking on a sidewalk to grass, or get out of bed in the middle of the night without stumbling. However, with impaired balance such activities can be extremely fatiguing and sometimes dangerous. To understand what's going on when your balance system isn't working, it's helpful to know how your balance system works. https://vestibular.org/article/what-is-vestibular/ #BalanceAwarenessWeek

Broadview Physiotherapy 05.05.2020

Vestibular disorders are quite common, affecting nearly 40% of adults 40 years and older at least once in their lifetime. Yet despite the widespread occurrence of vestibular disorders, the word vestibular is not commonly understood. The goal of #BalanceAwarenessWeek is to raise awareness for balance-related disorders by making vestibular a household word that everyone can easily understand, so that people who lose their balance can be more rapidly diagnosed and effectively treated.
