We're looking forward to premiering the final AV Broadcast of 2020! MIDWINTER The Winter Solstice marks the longest, darkest day of the year, and in 2020 many are wondering if we are also in the darkest days of recent history. Midwinter explores the concept of darkness - both literal and metaphorical within the themes of Solstice. What does hope look like when we’re battling through gloom? What would brightness show us if we were to expose our darkest corners? Would we lik...e what we found? Are things worse now, or are those of us who haven’t been experiencing oppression for generations only just now beginning to see clearly? Winter Solstice celebrations don’t dwell in the darkness, they mark the rebirth of the sun. The astronomy of Solstice is about preparing fields to sow and animals to mate. Perhaps what Midwinter will unearth is that we are ready to begin again and afresh, with kindness as the seed from which we will grow. All donations collected from this broadcast will be donated directly to Vancouver Black Therapy & Advocacy Foundation <3

We are thrilled to be premiering AV Broadcast - Edzi’u x Maria-Margaretta: "Where Is My Body" through Queer Based Media, a Live Digital Venue with a focus on true public access for queer creators. Queer Based Media is a multi-media company that provides videography, photography, and design work for queer creators on the unceded territories of the xmkwym (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Slílwta/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (Vancouver, BC). The company... was created by Maya Ritchey and Chris Reed. Ritchey is a queer femme also living and working on Coast Salish territory, she has long worked as a filmmaker, director, drag artist-activist. Chris Reed is a non-binary indigenous photographer, designer, director, drag artist, and activist living and working on Coast Salish Territory (Vancouver). Their family comes from the Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation and they settled on this territory in 2011. See more

We are thrilled to be premiering "Where Is My Body" this Sunday at 8pm, a conceptual piece by EdziuMusic and Maria-Margaretta for our latest edition of AV Broadcast. "Where Is My Body" is an experimental performance sound piece exploring traditional practice within spaces of home. Encapsulating laborious actions and repetitive acts of care, Edzi'u and Maria-Margaretta examine transformative objects and connection in relation to the body and the familiar.
