Confidence and self belief is so important. Don’t rub your bank empty, make sure you refill it and take care of it. Also ensure you are riding in an environment with people who help you fill that bank fuller everyday!
A reminder that the next ladies riding group is coming up Sept 19th, 9-12 pm. Please let me know if you are attending. We will be working on rider and horse asymmetry; recognizing the basics, how if affects our riding and how to create a training plan to correct it.

I will be offering these one Saturday each month, each topic will be focused on continuing development of a light, trusting partnership between horse and rider. All disciplines and levels welcome. $60/day each participant must bring a potluck item. Lesson horses are available for an extra $10/day. Lesson Topic for Aug 8th: An introduction to developing self carriage - what is it and why is it important for your horse regardless of what discipline you ride. Developing lightness to the bit and teaching your horse to seek the bit (bitless welcome as well). We will then progress to begin developing shoulder control. Most horses lock up and carry their mental tension through their shoulders therefore unlocking the shoulder is a key component in creating a trusting partnership based on communication and lightness. This lesson will begin in hand and progress to riding Future lesson topics: - Understanding Rider/Horse asymmetry - Developing laterals - Applying lightness to functional riding (obstacles) If you are interested in participating in this and future events please contact Kim Jungman of Pure Harmony Equine by phone/text at (306)222-1165 or my email at [email protected]. Classical training may take a bit longer but it lays a foundation that creates a strong, straight, supple and willing horse. This is especially important with the Lusitano. https://dressagetoday.com//elevated-collection-baroque-hor
This % correct!!! I tell my students this all the time, focus on the picture you want and expect them to meet that picture because they know you expect it and are confident in them. (Within their training scope of course!) https://blog.dressagenaturally.net/107-the-power-of-expecta

Riding lessons are where lifelong growth happens and friendships develop. Teamwork was one of the goals for this lesson. Riding bareback and playing ball are two skills that take a lot of trust, coordination, teamwork, skill and fun!
Come check out this great horse filled weekend and don’t miss cheering on team Andalusian/Lusitano!!! Schedule posted in comments
The connection between a child and a horse is unbelievable. Horses can heal and re-energize us in ways we could never imagine while surrounding us with a peace and happiness that makes us smile and glow despite whatever hardships we face on any given day. Skylar and Champ showing us how big those smiles get.
Side-saddle is making a comeback throughout the world and it is great to see it is getting a spotlight in so many ways in the last couple years. It really is a fun way to ride and while it challenges you in different ways then riding astride it is great!
Particularly useful for a horse who pulls! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2O8guFTXBkk&feature=share
This is so important and so often missed! In order to obtain self carriage the horse must be allowed to carry themselves and be accountable for their own actions meaning we cannot have constant pressure on the reins nor constant scrubbing/nagging with the leg and heel. Ask and when they respond correctly release and let them carry themselves.
Stay warm everyone, this week is going to be a chilly one!!! Lessons are being cancelled as it is just too cold. Instead we will have a stable management lesson Thursday 7 pm at the white Quonset. Please shoot me a text and let me know if you can make it. If you joined the 12 week riding challenge stay warm and have fun despite the cold!!!!
Merry Christmas to one and all!!!!
Do you know someone who has made a large impact and difference in the Equine And agricultural industries that is deserving of recognition? Someone who has made a big difference to people, creating opportunity and change within the horse industry. Consider nominating them for induction into the Sask Horse Federation Hall of Fame. https://saskhorsehalloffame.ca
Congrats And a huge shout out to Jackie on stepping out of her comfort zone and stepping up onto Cali for the first time! Way to go girl!!!!
I also did this exercise with Melanie this fall and it is such a great learning tool to really understand rein aids and the weight we exert vs the weight we should be using. If any of my clients ever want to try this exercise I am happy to do it with you.
Don’t settle for a trainer who teaches you indifferently. Find one who believes in you and truly cares about your journey. https://www.theplaidhorse.com//the-best-gift-you-can-give/
