@neel_shah ... Aim for the ceiling: care that is not just safe, but also supportive and empowering. * * * Over and over, we hear careproviders remind parents, ..."the goal is healthy mom, healthy baby". As if any parent EVER loses sight of this goal. Usually this phrase is used to placate when things are getting difficult or complicated or otherwise not going according to a hoped-for birth plan. Finally Neel Shah has put into a succinct and eloquent quote why this attitude is both true but not enough. Of course the goal is that everyone survives! But when childbirth is a foundational experience to parenting, as well as the newborn's future, let's aim for the top!!!! And part of being supportive, is honoring the paradox of joy and grief that can arise when mom and baby arrive healthy but pregnancy/labor was more challenging or scary than expected. See more
Sleep for you and your family. http://Pure-Harmony.ca
Good for you, good for your family. You deserve to be supported. xoxo
Heather Boyd (a colleague of mine) is doing a live round table for moms of twins around supporting infant sleep development through a practical and attachment lens. She's looking, in particular, for "seasoned" moms of twins (past the first 3 years perhaps) for a strategy and coping-based chat with three or so "seasoned" moms. The chat will be facilitated by Heather who is (like me) a gentle sleep coach. If you are interested, please PM me and I'll connect you.

I always felt weird about the female tree whose only purpose was to give to the boy (who never becomes a man) until she had nothing left for herself or her friends. Just the boy. And that's enough for her. Sounds all-too-familiar.
Do you know someone who's about to support their partner during labour and birth? Pure Harmony Families offers one and two hour workshops to teach doula-style skills for birth partners.

Midwives are trained healthcare professionals and are covered by OHIP. Also, they're totally rad. <3
If you want to show your support for Black Live Matter by participating in Black Out Tuesday, be sure to NOT use any kind of BLM hashtag, as that is drowning out important posts that are vital to BLM activists' activities and safety. Instead, use #BlackOutTuesday
