YIN and YANG Yin and Yang, like TCM’s Five Element theory, are integral to the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and has been so for thousands of years. Yin and Yang is able to describe something very simple and incredibly complex at the same time. It makes learning TCM very interesting and challenging as there is a whole new level of complexity when looking at yin and yang. The principle of Yin and Yang is that all things exist as inseparable and contradictory opposi...tes, for example, female-male, dark-light and old-young. The two opposites of Yin and Yang attract and complement each other and, as their symbol illustrates, each side has at its core an element of the other (represented by the small dots). The symbol was used as a method to track the movement of the sun, moon and stars around the year, and now we use it as a reminder of this very simple but complex way of looking at the body and world around us. COMFORT ZONE Just when I start getting comfortable, life always has a new twist or turn for me, and I am beyond grateful for that. Sometimes in the moment I get scared, I worry, I wonder why is this happening for me... and then I realize that life truly begins outside your comfort zone. 2020 was a hard year, and I know it was for a lot of people, the pandemic on top of other life stresses has made it changeling but I really have been reflecting on where I am now and I ...can truly look back now and be grateful for what happened. I am loving life - working from home, getting to work with so many wonderful patients and practitioners (networking remotely for now) and really working towards my goals. I have more that are in the works, as soon as I finish some I create new ones, but I really find living outside your comfort zone has helped me get there. SECOND TREATMENT ROOM With the new year, comes a new treatment room... I am very excited to be able to offer two treatment rooms here at Pure Health. So now when you come with a friend or family member both can have their own space and do not have to wait a full treatment before their own appointment. ... Being able to expand here at my home was something that I had been thinking about for a while, and what time like the present to do it. GREATEST FEELING Everyone can have tight feet - from kids to adults. The little ones are growing and as adults we are just on them all the time. The posterior chain (fascia chain) runs from the bottom of your feet, up the back of your legs, up your back to the top of your head. So when we start releasing the bottom of the feet you can feel the benefits all over your body.... DREAM.. YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD I know many of you may know my back story, but some of you may not... I was an engineer and project manager for 15 years, had worked extremely hard and crazy long hours to get to where I was, and then a series of life events happened that made me start re-thinking my life path. ... I had a thought two years before I actually left about leaving the profession, but told myself I was too old.. I had invested too much already... what a crazy thought to go back to school... acupuncture - really? You name it the thoughts were there, but slowly over time I overcame them and decided to just go for it... take the biggest leap of my life at that point. It has been the best decision of my life and yes there has been struggles, no dream just happens (at least not for me), but if you are serious about your dream, and you are willing to work for it, you are never too old to go for it. When anybody comes to me with a dream or goal, I would never put it down and would find a way to support them the best I can, as I know from experience they already have done that themselves, and are trying to face their own fears to go for it. WINTER and the SNOW is HERE I am not sure about you guys, but I sure do love a white Christmas, and I thought it might not happen this year as it was so green right up until Christmas Eve, but then the snow did not stop coming. I used the lovely yellow chairs that I got as a gift last year to really track just how much snow felt the last few days and still loving how beautiful everything looks with the fresh snow.... HUGGING This holiday season is going to be extremely different this year, as I know it is for all of us. I am going to miss seeing everyone in person, as I am a hugger... I love giving and receiving hugs (as you can not give one without getting one back ) ... Hugging is great medicine - you instantly feel so much better after a great hug. Hugging increases the release of the love or happy hormone oxytocin, which is released in response to physical touch. I know we can not all see each other in person this year, but for those you do see make sure you hug them a little tighter.
