Four...how is it even possible? It’s been a wild ride these last 4 years with this spunky little boy & his giant personality. He was so graciously gifted to our family & every day I tell him how good God was in sending us such a special gift.... He’s adventurous and mischievousthat twinkle in his eye tells it allbut he’s also sensitive and caringthinking of others. He gives the best hugs & loves to snuggle in close. His birthday was actually yesterday & in true Joel fashion he got stung by a bee... ... not to worry, he recovered in a couple minutes & was on the the next adventure. Happy birthday little buddy! It’s taken me a month to post this... Partly because, well, life... but mostly because I haven’t really had the words to communicate the depth of what this celebration really meant. Jules graduated from grade 8 & is headed to high school in the fall! ... Of course #covid19 robbed her of a formal graduation & the opportunity to celebrate with her friends & peers, but the success is no less sweet. Jules is our miracle. Born with a chromosome 14q terminal deletion, a rare genetic condition that doesn’t even have a namea diagnosis that brings with it a ton of specific and non-specific challengesMany times in her early years we didn’t know if she would even survive, or if she did, what her quality of life would be like... but she has risen to the challenge and defied the odds. A ton of work and many years of therapy (ongoing) has gone into helping her achieve milestones & successesmuch of that from a determination in her own spiritshe is a fighter & does not give up easily. But I would be foolish to not recognize the true source of her advances and accomplishments Godthe creator of her unique abilities and gifts empowers her to overcome. Jules is passionate about her faith & is always the first one to pray & ask Jesus for help when she’s struggling. Jules, you inspire me daily & I’m so grateful that God allowed me to be your mom. Keep reaching for the starsyou can do anything you put your mind to! .
