Exciting news!! Anyone who knows me through the clinic or professionally knows Im VERY selective on products I promote and sell none in clinic.....UNTIL NOW!! Clearing the air....so to speak when it comes to dental hygiene at Purely Hygiene and the aerosol concerns since Covid-19 showed up. First pictures show an ultrasonic and the spray it creates. Bottom picture shows how well the HVE (high volume suction contains that spray). This is where aerosol creation for the most part comes from in dental Hygiene. HVE greatly mitigates these concerns. If I use this on patients I leave an hour as per ACH(air change per hour)guidelines ...for my location post any aerosol generating procedures. The second picture is what I do a lot of here. Aerosol creation is not a huge concern with hand scaling and I still use the HVE upon rinsing and if or when aerosol creation is unavoidable. At Purely Hygiene it is unlikely you will ever run into another patient (scheduling magic)and you are the only one in clinic receiving treatment at any given time so risk has been reduced even more. You can be sure that moving forward back to life while covid-19 has altered said life, it is not stopping it. Professionals everywhere are following guideline to keep you safe. See more

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know that the online booking is open, but because I need time to wipe down the clinic and reset rooms there are large times between bookings. If you are looking at booking a family, giving the office a call to book is the best bet at this time as I can manually adjust these times when the clinic will be occupied all morning or afternoon by 1 family. Hope that makes sense.

Well first day with my open sign on in 9 weeks WHOOT WHOOT. No patients today though, just getting re-open ready finalized. I want you all to know that great lengths have gone into the CRDHA guidelines to keep you safe with return to dental. Purely Hygiene is recommending that if you are 60+ years of age or considered a high risk group, please book first appointments of the day. Purely Hygiene is also trying to keep a minimum of 30 minutes between each appointment if the patients are not related, so if you book online and I have to adjust time please bear with me. The appointments as Purely Hygiene practiced have not had to be altered that much but you will notice a few changes. It will be a smooth transition and we will get our groove back! I would like to thank everyone for their patience in my wait for guidelines to reopen. I will begin taking bookings for May 25,2020. Online booking is open, but time slots may need to change so bear with me. I will begin calling those of you that have been put on the booking list on Tuesday the 19th, so if youve spoken to me or contacted me already I will be reaching out at this time. I do have to verbally speak to upon your booking and so please book with best number to be reached at if you are utilizing the online booking. Good morning everyone. I just wanted to keep you all in the loop! As of this morning the CRDHA has stated that they will release return to work approved services by the end of this week and that we can open to perform non-aerosol generating services (scaling, exam, fluoride ) as of May 20th. As of today they are still restricting Polish services and x-rays. I will begin calling everyone next week and will be getting the office ready for reopen this weekend. Please not...e that we are directed to do prescreening calls prior to all appointments under our open mandate so I will be going through a questionnaire with each person/family prior to all appointments. IF anything changes between now and next week I will update you, as they are continually changing their guidelines to reflect most up to date science. Well as of yesterday the CRDHA guidelines are still only permitting emergency care for right now.

Although Purely Hygiene remains closed due to the pandemic, Alberta has began its reopen plan . Purely Hygiene is awaiting new guidelines on procedures and PPE from my governing association. Everyone who has been cancelled due to the pandemic will be contacted once I have an open date. Thank you all for your continued support!

Well, Saskatchewan has released their Phase 1 criteria for dental reopen. Dental Hygiene services, such as those practiced in Purely Hygiene would allow me (if I was in Saskatchewan) to reopen! What I mean is, hand scaling is considered a non-aerosol generating service. The good news is Im part of a Dental Hygiene class that was taught to do a majority of their scaling by hand! I do hand scaling daily, in fact I use hand instruments on 99% of my patients. There are only c...ertain cases that get the ultrasonic. So when the time comes, if Alberta was to follow the same types of guidelines for dental reopen as Saskatchewan, I may not need to miss teeth for too much longer. Of course Saskatchewan has a SIGNIFICANT lower number of cases so Alberta should definitely not rush to any hasty decisions for sure. Still missing you all and wanting to get back to work. See more

I know everyone already assumed due to the mandate to cease all non-essential dental treatment, however this is the official notification that Purely Hygienes Gift from the Heart program for 2020 is cancelled. It is my hope that once mandates are lifted I will be able to look at running it still in 2020, but I will have to revisit it at that time. As always stay safe and healthy... missing all my patients!
