And just like that 42.2km complete in 3hrs54mins for Bryan’s first @rundisney marathon in 2014. He’s gone on to crush that time, when he repeated the course in 2018 he ran it in 3hrs27mins. We’re hoping to return when it’s safe and a bit easier to travel, hopefully in 2022 when I’ll try out my first half marathon #rundisney #thatblingthough #racegoals #marathon #funrun

While Bryan ran an absurd amount of miles... I tried #tongatoast for the first time. It was fun to resort hop on the monorail loop before heading back to Epcot and the finish line. For reference... Tonga Toast is a large slab or sourdough , sliced and stuffed with banana... lightly friend and then served with cinnamon sugar... topped with syrup

I think I was in the Magic Kingdom by 430am on that particular race day... something pretty special about being there when the park is closed and crowds are nonexistent. It was very exciting to see Bryan down Main Street USA. Of course the attractions were not operating but they did open up the shops and it was so fun to browse. #rundisney #magickingdom #marathonmemories #waltdisneyworld

Next we hopped on free transportation (a nice perk of staying on site @waltdisneyworld )to take us from our resort to the starting area (a parking lot close to EPCOT). Once Bryan made his way into the corrals I was off to catch a monorail at 415am to take me to Magic Kingdom.

What’s that? A 220am wake up for a 5am marathon race start? Run Disney races start early to ensure runner safety and minimal impact to theme park operations. In hind site, we could have slept a little longer but we wanted to play it safe and ensure we got Bryan to the start line with plenty of time to eat and warm up.

7 years ago today my husband ran his first marathon - and he did it the best way possible at Walt Disney World during a Run Disney Marathon weekend. It was an amazing experience for him (and me), and we’ve been back for other runs and vacations since then. Today I’ll be posting some throw back photos on what that day looked like... grainy resolution and all
