Part 3 in the Series - What are the biggest mistakes job seekers make at the onset of job search? Job seekers don’t consider time as a critical element of job search. Invest Your Time Wisely... Job seekers often do NOT consider how they are spending their time in job search has a return on investment. 20-30% of jobs are advertised with a 4-10% success rate in landing a job online and yet many job seekers spend 90- 100% of their time applying for jobs online. On the flip side, 70-80% of jobs are hidden, but job seekers spend 0% - 10% of their time networking for warm leads. The solution? Flip these numbers. Spend 70-80% of your time networking and 20-30% or less of your time applying for jobs online. One of the biggest mistakes job seekers make is they forget that time is a critical element in job search. ... Job seekers often wait too long to start looking for a new opportunity. They forget to factor in the length of their severance package or employment insurance benefits to the average time it takes for workers in their industry to land a new opportunity. In 2014, the statistics for landing a job range between 3-6 months with the average around 4 months. These were prepandemic and pre-recession numbers. Solution: Get moving on your work search immediately. Don’t wait. #jobsearchtips #jobsearchtips #jobseeker
