Oh deer, it’s almost a wrap on 2020! It’s been a year we’ll never firget but there’s snow one else we would rather spend our holidays with than the PUSH fam. We are being carolful, wreath plenty of hand Santa-riser and room to avoid Claus encounters while social fitnessing. It’ll be 2021 in the blink elf an eye so don’t waste an opportunity to give a hundred and ten present!

Ever thought about this search? If so, then GREAT NEWS! . We’ve heard from a lot of people who would love to try yoga and reap the benefits, but feel too intimidated to drop in to a class. With winter looming and the need to connect with ourselves more important than ever, we wanted to make yoga accessible to everyone. The name of this class says it all, but here’s a full description: . Flow style yoga, suitable for all levels, with an emphasis on deep stretching, body postur...es and controlled breathing. This class will increase mind/body concentration, strengthen muscles and help to alleviate stress. . Yoga for non-bendy people will run Monday evenings from 6:45-7:45. Please register in advance on Schedulicity at https://www.schedulicity.com/scheduling/PFCNGY See more

Today is World Mental Health Day. . I did two different local media interviews on July 16 of this past year, one day before our province entered phase 3 and the gym would be allowed to re-open. In both, I stressed that my main focus in bringing people back into my business was the crucial relationship between physical and mental health. I spoke of my fear that depression and suicide statistics were delayed and that we were not yet realizing the severity of the chokehold the p...andemic was having on mental health. . Sure, I answered their questions about how the closure had affected my business, what changes would be made upon re-opening the same story we’ve seen and heard a million times. What I was trying to get across was my concern for the mental wellness of my members. My community. My FAMILY. . Upon being released, one of my heavily-edited interviews glazed over the subject of mental health in one afterthought sentence. The other one eliminated the topic altogether. . So, here I am putting myself out there again, but this time with the freedom to express myself fully and completely. . I recently saw someone wearing a shirt that read No Bad Days. While I believe that the shirt’s message was likely intended to be one of positivity, it struck a different chord with me. It made me realize how unrealistic our vision of ‘health’ can become if we don’t take the time to learn the fine balance of true health. . The stigma of mental illness can only be waylaid when we talk about it, listen to those suffering from it, and learn how we can help make a change. If 2020 has taught us nothing more than the importance of taking things one day at a time, then embracing the good days and helping each other through the bad ones is a small but important start. Nobody has ‘no bad days,’ but some people have ALL bad days. We need to listen. We need to help. We need to understand. And by damn, if someone tries to express themselves about mental health, we need to stop editing it out. . Embrace the ups. Endure the downs. Open your heart, your, mind, and your ears. Be strong. Be fragile. Be honest. Recognize. Believe. Learn. Stop the stigma. See more

STARTS TONIGHT!!! . You can't build a great building on a weak foundation. If we consider the core our body's foundation, then the plank is what gives it functional strength. Not only do plank-based exercises improve musculoskeletal strength, but also, posture, spinal alignment, coordination, and flexibility. In addition, plank work can help alleviate back pain and even improve your mood. Remember - simple doesn't mean easy; holding a static plank becomes difficult over a short period of time. The addition of challenging postures and dynamic movement will keep your mind focused and your body in gear throughout this entire half hour class! . MONDAYS @ 6:15am . Jenny B is back at it, but the good news is, she can’t get quite as ‘in your face’ as she used to! . No worries though - those tears you’re shedding by 7:00 still won’t be ‘of joy!’... . What a way to start the week ... almost makes sense in 2020 . PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Click here https://www.schedulicity.com/scheduling/PFCNGY to create an account, and sign up for future classes with one click. As always, all classes are included with PUSH membership! See more

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO CLASS BOOKINGS . All class participants must pre-register for classes online (link below). Classes remain included in your PUSH membership, or $10 drop-in rate for non-members. Pre-registration allows us to: ensure that we have met minimum numbers to run the class, prepare sufficient equipment prior to the class, and assess the potential to hold the class indoors in the event of inclement weather. . There is no longer an online payment... option. This may be frustrating to those who just got online class passes sorted out, but don’t worry - it will all get sorted out ...again! There was no efficient way to get existing PUSH members set up on Schedulicity without entering payment information, so it made sense to scrap online payments and have non-members pay in person at the desk. Don’t worry - any remaining online passes will still be honoured! . If you still aren’t set up on Schedulicity, please follow this link: https://www.schedulicity.com/scheduling/PFCNGY - it’s pretty straightforward once you get there. Send us a message if you run into any road blocks and we’ll help you out! . See you in class! See more

We really don’t think it’s masking too much!

PUSH Fitness Centre 27.07.2020

The TBDHU’s mask mandate comes into effect this Friday and we wanted to clear up some questions: -You will have to wear a mask when you are in the gym common areas- the lobby, change rooms and the gym floor- but once you begin to exercise, you can remove the mask (or not, you do you). -When you are done, you’ll put your mask back on. -There will be signage at the gym to remind you, and our staff can also help answer your questions ...or visit @tbdhealthunit website https://www.tbdhu.com/mandatorymasksFAQs.

Welcome back, PUSH fam! Opening day was AMAZING, and it was so great to be back (apart) together again! . BUT, we made a mistake. While we allowed the sale of day passes and one-month memberships yesterday, it is clear that we simply don’t have the capacity to accommodate all of the eager fitness enthusiasts that are still waiting for their gyms to open. . It is important to ensure that we prioritize space for our existing members without the risk of overcrowding. As much a...s it is tempting from a business perspective to do what we can to recuperate a significant financial loss, we must make a choice in the interest of health and safety. . While we understand the excitement to return to the gym from the entire Thunder Bay community, we remain unapologetically committed to keeping EVERYONE as safe as we can by making this decision to control our numbers. . This is uncharted territory, folks. We are all doing the best we can. We WILL get through this, and we look forward to welcoming new PUSH family very soon. See more

Home Workout #68: Jenn's Faves from Workouts 28-36 (47:00) - A little delayed due to a storage issue caused by too many workout videos, this is the 4th in our final series of home workouts. If you don't like all the inversion (handstand) exercises, modify with plank variations and you'll still get a great workout. Enjoy!
