Pyramid Ferments 17.02.2021

Up next is Me! Alex. Co-founder of Pyramid Ferments. I'm typically ( but not necessarily always ) the person who writes/ designs all of these posts and stories as our social media manager and graphic/ web designer. So, if you message us on social, generally you're talking to me. HI! As far my other hats are concerned, I'm also in production, sales, research, deliveries and face to face market sales (remember those?) Plus all of the other fun challenges that come with co-runn...ing a business. I also spearhead the kombucha side of things here at Pyramid. I guess I'm the brewer in a sense. My favorite Pyramid Ferment? It's kind of a blanket statement. I really enjoy the small batch side of things we offer. There's nothing more fun than experimenting in the kitchen and experiencing all of the awesome flavors that come with doing so. In fact, I'm home right now in my home kitchen experimenting with tempeh, natto and cheese. There's always new stuff to try and new techniques to discover. Keep fermenting everyone and Go with your gut !

Up next in he staff picks we have Nicole! Our savior ! Haha. Nicole is our daily operations manager and over all "make sure everything works" person. We kind of knew what organization was, or at least we thought we did. Then we met Nicole, what a world of difference she has made at Pyramid. We can't thank you enough. We knew we had the right person when she said "oh, I just love making spreadsheets". "Pyramid Ferments Golden Beet, Tumeric and Black Pepper Kvass is my staff... pick! Golden Beets, turmeric & black pepper offer their amazing anti-inflammatory qualities, making this one of my favourite post work out drinks (replenishes the sodium potassium pump too!) Since kvass is high in probiotics, there are many other health benefits such as improving intestinal tract health and enhancing the immune system, which makes nutrients more available to the body. Kvass improves heart and cardiovascular health, improves digestion, boosts metabolism, is high in vitamins & free amino acids (folate, manganese, copper, potassium), and of course packed full of antioxidants. Up next in our staff picks is Craig's pick. Craig has been on and off with us for years now and is currently our full time go to guy, daily dj, rice cooking master and prep machine. Any guy who will peel ginger or chop green onions without any complaints is A-OK in our books. "Harissa Sauerkaut is my choice. I really enjoy the toasted seed blend and the hint of heat. It's perfect to add to a ton of dishes either on top or on the side. It's just always been my favorite since I first tried it, super versatile" - Craig

This isn't a sponsored post, we just know how hard it can be to find stuff when you're starting out Pro tip for Canadians: You can buy ceramic fermenting crocks @homehardware No need to pay insane prices for antique ones (which can often times contain lead), unless that's your jam, then go ahead. I think they carry 2 gallon all the way up to 10! If they're not on the shelf they can order them in. Also did you know we have a 50 gallon ceramic barrel ? Neat huh? So stop by our contactless, 1 day only, pickle speakeasy and get the first pickles of the season! When: 1 day only! Tuesday August 11th between 10-3.... Where: the back of the black river cheese factory 913 County road 13. Not the front store. Drive around back by the river and you'll see the secret pickle speakeasy door. How: Cash only! Contactless pick up! Knock on the big roll up door and state the secret pickle password(tbd). Put your $ in the basket and the pickles will be yours. $10 per jar or 6 jars for $50.

We had a great day at the farm working with fresh botanicals for a special ferment project and collecting fresh echinacea for our Green Queen kombucha which is brewed with echinacea, green coriander seed and lemon basil! Great to get out and enjoy some summer time!
