Let's talk the language of linen! Ever wonder what "satin stitch" means? Also known as "damask stitch", it involves using a series of parallel, flat stitches to embroider a section of fabric. With this technique, stitches are placed so closely and evenly that the end result has a beautiful sheen, reminiscent of satin. Let's talk the language of linen! Today, we're translating "Art Deco". It's a design style, it's of French origin, it's short for "Arts Décoratifs"! Art Deco first appeared in France in the early 1900s. Inspired by bold geometric shapes and bright colours, this style blends a modern aesthetic with rich materials and fine craftsmanship. Art Deco influenced everything from buildings to furniture to fashion and is popular internationally to this day. (You may be familiar with this style from popular films set in the 1920s, like The Great Gatsby!)

We were thrilled (and we'll admit, a little star struck ) when designer Jillian Harris tagged us in her stories the other day. The talented BC-based designer picked up our Wellington Quilt Set at our store in Kelowna. Better still, Jillian's purchase was for a good cause.
