The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a fun and supportive way for students to explore their full potential. They choose the activities that most interest them and track their progress. In the process they learn new skills, gain confidence, give back to their community, meet students from other schools within the ESSB territory, as well as challenge themselves within a safe and proven framework. Starting at age 14, youth can register for the award at their school. Each secondary sch...ool has an award leader on staff who is trained to help them sign up, choose their activities and goals, and support them in achieving the award. ESSB pays the registration fee and promotes the award through the Spiritual Animation service with Ann Kelly as regional coordinator. The highlight of the award is the adventurous journey component in which students from across the board come together to hike, bike, kayak, snowshoe, or canoe, overcoming fears, pushing their limits, all the while making lasting friendships and fond memories. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is an international program that is highly recognized by post-secondary schools, employers and funders. For more information, you can contact Erin Ross at [email protected], reach out to Ann Kelly at [email protected] or browse the website: https://www.dukeofed.org/

All students have received their essb emails and passwords and have learned how to access their email through Outlook. We will continue to update parents on the technology tools we will be implementing in the classroom as the school year continues.
