Hello Wonderful Community, Just a quick update here from your Community Centre. As you are probably already aware, due to the new province wide health orders all indoor classes have had to be cancelled for the time being. While we had very good, approved COVID safety plans in place we want to always err on the side of doing our utmost to help keep our beautiful community safe and follow the public health orders. A few of your beloved local instructors are already offering online alternatives and more are looking at joining this to fill the gap until we can all come together again. When we get more info on online offerings, we will post them on our FB pages and until then we are sending out much love to each and every one of you, we miss you and can't wait until the day we can all come together again! We community!

Art cards sale and Community Centre fundraiser! We have added another Hilary Stewart treasure for you all, just in time for your Christmas giving! Beautiful box sets of Hilary Stewart, Quadra Island art cards are for sale through Quadra Community Centre for $20 each box set (no tax). Card boxes include 6 cards in total, 2 of each design: birds, wildflowers, sea creatures. Proceeds go to your Community Centre to help raise funds during COVID, when we cannot do our traditiona...l, annual, large event fundraisers. If you are interested in purchasing a card box set call QCC at 250-285-3243 or: email [email protected]. For ease we can accept e-transfers or credit card payments over the phone and can arrange for safe hand over of your art cards at QCC. Sets are also available in professional shipping envelopes for easy, cost effective mailing to family and friends far away, i.e. fits through the mail slot! Limited quantities, so order yours now!

It's throwback Thursday! Here is a little walk down memory lane for you all. These awesome photos from 1985 show the amazing community spirit and volunteer drive that came together to plan, fundraise for and build your Community Centre. Can you believe that the hall used to be heated by a wood fired boiler?! That's a lot of community chopped cords of wood right there!! We are so thankful for this community full of get ‘ER done spirits who came together all those years ago to raise funds and volunteer SO much labour to build Quadra's Community Centre. We are super excited to announce that our favourite Theatre instructor Kate Alexandra will be offering Island Theatre Kids this fall (online) and in this session kids will get to make a movie!

We continue to have pretty amazing summer weather, perfect for taking to the beach and ocean, so we wanted to share a fun beach inspired craft project! This is a great one to do at home with the kids after the long hours of swimming and scouring the beaches for treasures. Create a beach memory jar from a mason jar and all of those beach finds! Below is a link for the easy DIY kids project, but *remember: when collecting shells and such always make sure they are abandoned and that there are no creatures still inside.
