Today we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives that were taken, the more than 6,000 injured, and the countless acts of courage seen on September 11, 2001. We give our support to all those affected by the aftermath of this senseless act of terror. We will never forget.

The Second World War officially ended 75 years ago today. We Remember the countless sacrifices made by the Canadians who served. Including the more than 45,000 who gave their lives and the 55,000 wounded.

Tonight we are hosting covid friendly games night . Come join the fun on Thursdays. Patrice our chef isnt with us this week. We will have all beef hotdogs. Thanks

Lost Arts Club will be at the Quadra Island Legion on the evening of Oct. 2. Which class would you like to see us bring?

Lot s of gratitude and appreciation for the Canadian Military Police and supporters. They are doing a motorcycle ride for the blind children. The Legion here on Quadra, hosted a lunch.

The ride will be at Branch 154 for lunch tomorrow. They are arriving on the 10:30 ferry, so if you see them riding by, please wave! The Ride raises money for Blind Children and we have a donation jug set up at the Legion. Please give generously!

Hey folks, there will be some changes to procedures at the Meat Draw tonight per our directive from BC Yukon Command and the most recent Provincial Health Order. The most immediate difference is a maximum of 6 people/table and patrons must be seated on arrival. Our Sergeant-at-Arms will be there to greet you tonight and explain the other changes. Please be patient with us! We are doing the best we can to follow direction and protect the health of our members and community.

Happy Canada Day from Branch 154! Today we celebrate the beautiful country in which we live, especially our very own island paradise. O Canada! On this day, we also remember the sacrifices of the Newfoundland Regiment at Beaumont-Hamel in WWI. Lest we forget.

Because we are non-profit, most Legions operate pretty close to the edge. Here at Branch 154, we are working hard to put protocols in place to re-open soon but many Legions will not be so fortunate after Covid.

We may not have May Day at the Spit this year, but you cant keep this good-looking crew down! Your Legion Colour Party will be flying the Colours - six feet apart - on the Legion lawn on Saturday as we May Day in place and pay tribute (while socially distancing) to our Branch, our community, and our country.

Todays tribute ceremony at Kamloops Airport in honour of the late Capt. Jennifer Casey and the Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds will not be open to the public but will be streamed live on the Kamloops Legion Facebook page.

UPDATE: The plaque has been returned!! Thank you to the anonymous returner - you did the right thing. The Memorial Plaque on our cenotaph has gone missing and is presumed stolen. If you have any information about the plaques whereabouts, please contact the Legion or the Quadra Island RCMP. Branch President Tom Vaniderstine is offering a reward for its safe return so if you have it, please contact Tom and no questions will be asked. The Royal Canadian Legion is still awaiting a response from the Prime Minister to its April 28 letter from Dominion President Tom Irvine, requesting clarity on ...the Emergency Community Support Fund that was announced by the Federal Government three weeks ago. Legion Branches need financial support now to help them stay alive and provide the vital services that our Veterans and communities require, both now and in the future.
