Cokadoodledo friends! here's a tip from ChickenDave about egg laying and the changing season: We are going into cooler days and darker nights. If you want to correct it you'll have to invest in a day time running light and make sure the coop stays at a constistant tempature. Also limit their green intake protien in protien out.

How to properly candle an egg: I still see a lot of people incorrectly trying to candle eggs. It's very simple to do it the right way, and not put the egg at ri...sk. The easiest way, and the least invasive on the egg, is to use a small candling flashlight. There's no need to pick up the eggs, turn them over, or even touch them. Always hold the light over the air sac, or the larger round end. That's how you will clearly see the veins and embryo. Whether your eggs are vertically or horizontally incubated does not matter. Just put the flashlight up to the air sac. Super easy right?! As always, feel free to ask me any questions. Happy Hatching. See more
