Not intended to be a fucking motivational post. Just an honest one. If you have previously played sports, then you can relate. If you haven't, then hang on tight and just read away.... This post doesn't pertain to any specific sport, just overall athletics. As an ok-to-moderate lifter, I get a lot people in gyms often asking me for a specific exercise to get stronger, or faster. (This is okay, because as humans we ask questions and observe others actions to learn). So, yes I welcome all questions and creeping from you. In relation to other sports, the weight room can be quite different. Most have very different goals from, or no goals at all. But, I still respect you for showing up. Where am I going with this? I encourage you to treat the weight room like any other sport! Ask yourself right meow, if what you're doing in the gym pertains to your goals? When I was a kid, I wanted to shoot a puck like AL Macinnis. AL Macinnis terrorized goaltenders in the NHL from the 80's to 90's with his notorious 100 mph slap shot. I came across AL one summer on a beach, and asked him what I could do to shoot a puck like him. Guess what he didnt' say? Practice your back hand Conor, it will render future slap shot gains. He told me to shoot more pucks. He told me to perfect what I was doing. He told me to look at my technique, and pick out flaws, even if there was none, I needed to find some. (If I could shoot a perfect puck like him, then I would be in his shoes). Well, a couple vertical inches probably wouldn't hurt either. Two or three inches, a good pair of tuuks and two pairs of socks would have me sitting atleast 6'3. For this week, make sure your exercise selection, and execution is sound. Just follow the damn recipe, and trust the process. I mean what's the worst thing that can go wrong? You get better?

TBT, two years ago, when gains were as easy as watching flowers grow. They say the beginning of something is always the most exiciting. Personally we enjoy the ending reward, but that's obviously subjective. The goal should always be to finish, not start. So keep at your goals, and be prepared for the bumps along the way.
