Please stay off the ice on Wascana Lake and Wascana Creek. Although the ice may look safe it isn’t. Children should be warned about the dangers of thin ice. K...eep children away from lakes, ditches and creeks. Anyone walking their dog in Wascana Centre is asked to keep it on a leash. If your dog runs onto the ice, do not attempt to rescue it as you will be putting yourself in danger. As part of the "Big Dig" Wascana Lake revitalization project, under water aeration systems were put in place to keep the lake and its water environment alive. From the surface the ice may appear fine, but it could be very thin in spots. If you see anyone, especially children, playing on the ice or near dangerous water, call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500. In an emergency call 911.

Local Runner Profile - Interview with Scott Kiefer Scott grew up in the Village of Drake, Saskatchewan and says as crazy as it sounds there was not much of a running scene there. He played and participated in every sport he possibly could, including track & field but never thought of running as something to do independent of another sport until he met his wife Erin. His first race was the 2010 Saskatchewan Marathon where he ran the 1/2 marathon. Since that race he has run the 1/2 marathon multiple times at Queen City Marathon as well as 1/2 marathons and 10k’s at other local races. Scott also races triathlons and that is where he ran his first marathon distance as part of Ironman Whistler in 2015. Scott has completed marathons in Eugene, OR, Fargo, ND and Chicago.
