This collection is the work M. Baillon’s grade 5 class did for Canadian soldiers overseas in Ukraine. The choral singers are belting out Silent Night at the top of their lungs. On the back, students glued a letter they wrote to a soldier to brighten their holiday season. Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB)

This series of images by M. Baillon’s grade 5 class was created in response to a call from the Board’s Indigenous Inquiry team for art capturing The Beauty of the Trees. Students could take photographs or create original art. They were reminded that trees give shelter and shade and offer nourishment. They are strong and grow large roots. They were also coached on using different perspectives to achieve different effects. Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB)

Here is a selection of artwork created by M. Baillon’s Grade 5 class during this lockdown. They are using the Crayon Resist technique. Using crayons and watercolour paint, students created beautiful soft snowflake paintings. The white crayon prevents the watercolour from staining the paper leaving it white when the paint dries. The effect is quite beautiful.

Ontario has issued a stay-at-home order and when students do return to in-person learning, there will be new health & safety measures in place. Read the full update: http://bit.ly/38EEdIC.

Our community health partners, The Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, have indicated this evening that parents should use the provincial screening tool that was updated today. If your child passes the screening they can attend school, even if they are waiting for test results. http://ow.ly/Elxo50BHhWk

While a cold may seem like a normal thing for your child at certain times of the year, it is not considered a normal symptom. If your child has cold-like symp...toms, they should be assessed by their health care provider or a COVID-19 assessment centre. Further guidance will then be given on when they can return to school or childcare.
