Why Seaweed A member of the algae family, seaweed (not actually a weed, but a type of sea-vegetable) is classified into three groups: red, green, and brown. The most commonly consumed varieties are nori, hijiki, kombu, wakame, and dulse, though there are hundreds more growing in our oceans. Fortunately for us, the cold, clean waters off Vancouver Island are an ideal habitat for producing some of the world’s best seaweed. According to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, the coas...t of British Columbia is home to an estimated 530-macroalgae species, approximately 650,000 tonnes of wild kelp. This versatile and sustainable superfood is one of the most nutritionally dense foods available. Loaded with minerals, vitamins, and iron, its uses go way beyond sushi. Seaweed’s many benefits in soap making: Seaweed soap cleans the body as traditional soaps do, plus it exfoliates the skin. Gritty bits of seaweed within the soap remove dead cells on the skin. This reveals the newer skin

Natural Soap VS. Commercial Soap COMMERCIAL SOAP YOU'LL FIND ON YOUR STORES SHELVES MAY INCLUDE: Parabens: These unnecessary ingredients are found in majority of commercial soap and beauty products and act as chemical preservatives (extend shelf life) Phthalates: This additive (known to be linked to several cancers) is often used as a ‘plasticizer’- an ingredient used to produce plastic.... Petrochemicals: Made from petroleum, these chemicals should be considered unsafe for humans because little is known about the long term effects they have on our health. Synthetic Perfume: Artificial perfume scents, although they smell nice, are linked to allergies and hormonal issues. As well, synthetic ingredients such as perfume are likely to cause skin conditions and to aggravate existing issues such as acne. Artificial Colouring: Love that funky design in your soap bar? Like your soap to glow in the dark? Well, double check the labels. Commercial soaps are packed with

Soap And Water 101: Why It’s Best For COVID-19 Coronavirus (And Everyday Practice) You don’t need antibacterial or antiseptic soap to remove COVID-19 from your skin, Dr. Andrew Pavia, Chief, Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah, explains. Regular soap is great. In my house we use plain soap. So why don’t you need to go into the internet trenches shopping for antibacterial soap? Well, first off, because COVID-19 is a virus, not a bacteria. But... the scientific answer as to why soap works to protect us against COVID-19 is a technical one. Soapwhether it’s all natural, hand made, liquid, bar, or foamyhas a particularly molecular makeup, made up of what are actually called soap molecules. Soap molecules possess both hydrophobic (water-averse) and hydrophilic (water-attracting) properties. When introduced to water, the water-attracting parts of the tiny soap molecule point outward and, in turn, are able to dissolve fatty See more

Happy New Year to all my friends and customers!! The year 2020 started in September 2018 and cost me my wholesale business more or less. We had health problems, first my husband then me. It almost killed all my soaping business. Thankfully, we have faithful friends and they kept wanting soaps and kept me re stocking. I now am starting to actively seek new wholesale accounts. I went to a local store here, my son referred me to them. They have soaps all ready so no need for mine. What is troubling to me is this. Their soaps are made in the USA. What, we don't have enough soapers around here? And how cheap are they that they can be retailed for $5.00 a piece? So I am a bit disappointed but happy that I did not even try. Yes I want to restart. No, I don't want to cheapen my product to get accounts. Happy New Year!! S
