We’re asking our community to help out a friend of The Queens, by bringing any bottles/empties to Learnfit at 78 Albert St. S. Southampton on Sunday, September 27 from 12-2pm. Brad Bishop is 22 years old from Owen Sound, and has been diagnosed with an aggressive type of sarcoma in his foot. He had is leg amputated on July 23 While learning to use his new prosthetic he got the tragic news that the cancer had spread to his lungs. Doctors have told him he is terminal and the onl...y type of treatment they can do is palliative chemo. Brad has decided he is going to fight this so he’s looking at alternative treatments which are very expensive. Money raised will go toward the additional costs of his treatment. We will be closed today and tomorrow to give our staff a real two day break. Traditionally, we do this every year after Labour Day. This year the break felt more needed than ever. The hospitality industry has always been moving and changing by nature. So I can't think of people better equipped to handle this "thing" we're in than our staff and their families. But that said, it's been hard. Really hard. ... We are grateful for a community that understands and supports us. We were always going to get through this together as the hashtags said, but we actually ARE getting through this together. Thank you to our staff, their families, our community and everyone that has made a point of trying to understand what we are going through and support our efforts. As we enter the fall, with the stress of school reopening and and more unknowns, we will continue to be here. We will be an active part of the best community in Canada, contributing wherever we can.
