This is the weekend when our annual Pancake Breakfast was to be held. Everyone at the Queensborough Community Centre Committee is saddened that we can't do it this year because of the pandemic that is keeping us all apart. But let's look on the bright side: spring weather has arrived, tulips and daffodils are poking up, and the pandemic WILL end one of these days. We look forward to getting the men of Queensborough back into action, aprons and all, cooking and serving the 2021 Pancake Breakfast to an appreciative crowd of local residents and visitors. Meanwhile, everyone, stay home and stay safe!
Queensborough pays tribute: The flag beside the Black River in our little community is at half-staff as we remember the tragedy in Nova Scotia last weekend. From one small rural Canadian community to another, our hearts go out to the victims' families and friends.
Hey everybody: we have a hamlet-to-hamlet project going on to help local frontline health workers through the Covid-19 crisis and we need your help! A Queensborough resident who's a nurse working at the Bancroft hospital ER messaged us to ask if we knew of anyone in the community with sewing skills who could make masks or headbands to which earloop masks could be hooked. We thought of Bannockburn resident (and friend of the Queensborough Community Centre) Eliza Deary, who h...as been sewing masks in recent days. Within minutes we heard back from Eliza, and she is on the case and contacting her own network of sewing people to help. BUT: some materials are needed. If anyone can donate " or " elastic and/or craft wire or plastic-coated wire, that would be amazing! Please leave a message here or call Katherine Sedgwick at 613-473-2110 and we'll arrange pickup and delivery. Thank you for helping keep all in our community safe! See more
Hi everyone: Katherine Sedgwick from the QCC Committee here. A member of our community has made a very good suggestion that I'd like to share. So many are, wisely, following health experts' advice to stay at home if possible. Some are self-isolating because of recent travel or because they fall into the older and more at-risk age category. How can we in the Queensborough community best help each other during this difficult time? Well, here's the suggestion: those who are youn...ger and still able to get about could do errands grocery shopping, fetching prescriptions, etc. for those who cannot. You can always drop off the supplies on the front porch and a phone conversation with the person you're helping will surely help that person feel less isolated. This QCC page can put those who can help in touch with those who need help. If you fall into either category, we invite you to leave your name and phone number in the comments below, or to send a private message via the "Send Message" button at the top right hand of this page. We will do our very best to connect people and make sure everyone in our little community has the support they need to get through this difficult time. Together we can do it! See more
Tonight! Everyone in the Queensborough community is invited to take part in a discussion of what we can do. Kids especially welcome - it’s your future we’re talking about!

A great breakfast on the Family Day weekend! The Tweed Kiwanis Club is a generous supporter of the children's summer drop-in program at the Queensborough Community Centre, so we're pleased to invite our community to support this club fundraiser.
