1. Sun - Cacti like the sun. Be mindful of direct sun through a window, as to not burn your little one. South facing windows are best. 2. Water - Give them a drink at least once a week. Allowing the soil to dry out a bit in between waterings. Just how often is going to depend on your location and season. Hot sun or dry air, you'll need to water more often. And the opposite for a more mild location. Don't forget to water less in winter. 3. Home - Cacti soil... tends to be a bit sandier and rockier, like the dessert they call home. Looking forward to change within our industry. It starts with a mindset change across the whole industry and where education starts. Besides, what we love most about our industry is the opportunity to make every client feel welcomed and confident in their own natural beauty!

This change is long overdue! I was given barely 1 week of theory out of 10 months of school. Its only because of where I worked, my personal surroundings and my own curiosity for why I know what I do. And at that a stigma still exists because many hairdressers, in their discomfort, make a client feel like theres something wrong with them. When its the hairdressers lack of curiosity and knowledge that prevents them from being kind and accepting of someone who offers hair ...that is uniquely different from their own. This past May members of our Team were excited to take a class @hairholisticstudio with @curlyhairdesigns We hope they will have this opportunity to grow and learn again soon.

I think its safe to say we've all been thrown a lesson in balance! In theory, a balanced life sounds simple, implementing is a bit more of a challenge. I know its been a challenge for me! Deciding whats important in your life, how often you want to commit time to it and organizing that throughout a set week are key theories on finding that balance. ... Though, we can try to offer some suggestions to help you along the way.... - set a timer for your showers - if you drink tap water, keep a jug prefilled in the fridge, as to not run the tap waiting for cooler water. - place a plastic bottle in your toilet tank (this is a good one to look up and understand better) - studies say the dishwasher uses less water than washing by hand in most scenarios - check for leaks! - get a shower head that controls water flow - take more baths! ;) - switch to energy star or appliances that save energy and water when it comes time to purchase a new one. Im not gonna lie, feeling a little scared of whats to come over the next few months. A few things to think about: - is it worse now, or after you tried and it didnt work out - sure it grows back... an average of 6inches per year... - we make it look easy, coz we do it all day for years. (Schooling is 10 months intensive, everyday all day, plus we must complete a 2-3 year apprenticeship. You can use extensions to add volume, length and pops of colour! This created an extra 4-5 inches of length and all the volume one could ask for. Having them put in by an experienced technician, following the home care steps and having them removed by your technician in a timely manner... is key to your hair goal success!
