How did the ancient Romans make their socks? Our graduate student Emily Croft has made a pair of udones (socks with split toes) using the nålbinding technique, the same used by the ancient Romans. The color pattern is also based on ancient models. The project was part of a research on ancient Roman textiles supervised by Dr. Cristiana Zaccagnino. Great job Emily!
